Warning light help

Recommended Posts

Dave,

Sounds like its not putting out enough voltage !

check with volt meter matey

Simpistic view......

voltage from the battery flows through the warning lamp and to ground via the alternator, when the engine is running voltage flow the other way as it is above battery voltage so the light goes out.

in your case the voltage the alternator is putting out is less than battery so it glows !!

not exactly right as its about voltage equalisation

Regards

Les

I know my answer is not scientific, but I have the same problem let's say for the last 5-6 years and I have not changed/charged my battery the last 6 years, so it might not cause any trouble. I get a very faint battery light (visible only at night) . My motor is V8, but I do not see any difference, apart from higher electricity needs for sparks.
