adamplatts
Hi. We have just bought a 300tdi. Generally seems to be a good buy but we have a problem with the headlights. Turn the lights on and all is ok, pull to flash with lights on and all is ok. The problem is we can not flash the lights during the day unless lights are also on. Is this normal? I am sure I can flash the lights on other cars I have had without having to switch lights on. Anyone got my ideas what I need to look at to resolve

adamplatts
Hi The stalk seems ok. And it works when lights are switched on. I guess it's worth trying. I will get on eBay and see what I can find and give it a try. Any other ideas if stalk is ok? I have checked fuses etc. not really very electrically minded any relays etc I need to explore? Cheers Adam
JimAttrill
The main beam will have a relay used for flash and main beam. So if the main beam works the relay is ok. If you want your light switch to last fit relays to the low beam as well. Just about all car manufacturers save a few bob this way and it causes the light switch to burn out. teabag
Theres only one relay in the lighting circuit and that is for the dim-dip. The light switch handles the rest so any probs with light switching the the first suspect is an iffy light switch.
