Bent Ignition Key

The other half's Freelander 1 TD4 has a bent key. This is not the first time it has bent and the fear is that it will break any time soon.

I have seen other older threads on this forum but my question is, if there is a separate key fob, does the key still have a transponder or can I just get a replacement cut without having to have it programmed.

(we never got a second set of keys with the motor when we bought it)

As far as I am aware the transponder is in the remote, so you should be able to get a key cut cheaply. Most key cutters have scanners to tell you if your key has a chip in it and will check for free
