rovernut
The other half's Freelander 1 TD4 has a bent key. This is not the first time it has bent and the fear is that it will break any time soon. I have seen other older threads on this forum but my question is, if there is a separate key fob, does the key still have a transponder or can I just get a replacement cut without having to have it programmed. (we never got a second set of keys with the motor when we bought it)
CJ1
As far as I am aware the transponder is in the remote, so you should be able to get a key cut cheaply. Most key cutters have scanners to tell you if your key has a chip in it and will check for free
FridgeFreezer
I believe TD4 era have a transponder key, any key cutter will tell you.
EggNChips
The transponder is in the key. The key is in two parts and can be split to reveal the transponder and swap them.
