Disco 2 autobox problems

Check the fluid level... mine did that every 2000 or so miles when it had a vvery slow leak. Technically the flashing lights indicate an electrical fault and needs to be brought to a dealer but check the fluid first, after that I'd be pulling the electrical connectors off and giving them a squirt with some electrical contact cleaner and then I'd look at the XYZ switch (correct me if thats the wrong name but its close)

It's a "switch" that sits on the side of the gearbox around the selector arm. It tells the ECU what position the arm is in so it knows what gear you've selected. The switch, the connector for it and the wiring loom itself are all prone to failure, the latter normally caused by chafing.

One possible indication of a problem is the gear indicator LEDs not lighting up correctly when you move the gear selector.
