Aragorn
The exhaust housing is completely different. If your wanting to DIY it, then i'd look at getting a suitable VGT turbo as a complete unit off a modern car, and making it fit the TD5 manifold. IIRC Lara on here uses a GT2559V from a Renault of some description. Theres also GT2256, GT2260 and GT2560 variants on a few different cars that could all work for you. These folks have a list of common VGT turbos and give an idea of their power and performance: http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-gtb-turbo-kit-for-2-0-16v-tdi-ppd-common-rail-engines.html Its talking about a 2.0 VW TDI, so the spool characteristics will be different (the TD5 will spool earlier) but the max performance and boost should be common. The stock TD5 turbo is a GT2052. The trickiest bit is making the VGT actuator work properly with a boost capsule, as almost all factory VGT's are either vacuum controlled, or electronic. I've had my eye on this project: http://dmn.kuulalaakeri.org/vnt-lda/
