ronnie_rotten
i removed the front prop from the disco cos the uj's need doing. i had a td5 front prop (from a defender) and as they looked the same length i put it on until i get the uj's sorted. i seem to have vibration now, and inspection shows that the yokes are out of phase on the td5 one fitted. there is a pretty good explanation of why here... http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac41/yostumpy/pshft028.jpg so.... should i take it off und run in diff lock until the original unit is repaired, or just get the yokes in phase and put it back on again? Maverik
I would set the def prop up like the one you took off..? - also could it be the spare defender prop you have is out of balance?
ronnie_rotten
Out of balance is definitely possible, though it did seem in very good order when I bought it a while ago. Maybe I'll mark up the position it is in now and then get it all in phase and see if there's an improvement.
Aragorn
Front prop is supposed to be out of phase due to the angle of the diff nose, i suppose it might not be the right amount out of phase though!
