bill van snorkle
Bill, are you suggesting Diet Coke would have been more appropriate ? Well Ander, having previously run front/rear Dana 60/Salisbury combination, and then studied the sensible European and Japanese approach to differential/shaft design, I am no longer an advocate of the bigger is always better approach. Detailed but simple engineering can pare a lot of weight off componentry without sacrificing strength and could in fact improve durability. zim
Bill, The shafts splines are bigger than the shafts diameter. This is the correct way of making shafts. i.e. This is a view from the front : Off to work tomorrow, so this is all packed away for the next month. dirtydiesel
Interesting looking axle Gordon, dwarfs the rover axle. the old link arrangement looks hideously complex and the steering ram looks a little small as well, i'd have thought a 10x3 would have been better suited? I also cannot believe you'd think about putting 35's on them, they deserve no less than 47"s Do you have any more details on the discs and calipers? They look very large to still fit inside 16"s
Hybrid_From_Hell
Those boggers in the pic are not 35" !!
zim
Dan, the ram works fine apparently. I can get a really good scrub radius as well, as I'm yet to make my rims. The brakes are from ouverson, the disc is about 330mm and calipers are made in house by them. Have a look on google for their site. Nige, how come you say they aren't 35 ? Kevin from kam didn't believe me either despite sending a photo with tape measure - he accused me of lying and said I was swapping wheels for events. zim
Picked this up from the shipping agent yesterday :The shaft closest to you in the vice is actually a 40 spline inner from another axle, bit difficult to compare with where it is sat :A quick measure shows the carrier bearings are approximately 1/2" bigger than a standard 14b. The last major remaining thing on the list now is some form of engine, then the build can start. G
Hybrid_From_Hell
It's nice to see it all in one piece - for the last time Nige
