Cronus
Hi folks, I really hope someone can give me some advice. I was getting the clicking noise from the starter motor for about a month but it did eventually start. (2003 2.0 TDi) I replaced the solenoid on Monday evening and now it won't start at all. I took the starter to a electrics specialist and he told me today that the starter motor and the solenoid I fitted are fine. Does anyone know what it could be? I noticed when I put the starter back in to try it, the battery light was dimly lit. The headlights came on fine and jumping it didn't work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Gary
tim_roberts
Have you checked that there is 12v at the main terminal? If that's OK, you'll then have to check if 12v appears at the smaller terminal when you turn the key. If that's also OK, then there must be something wrong with the internal connections in the starter.

Baldyboy
Hi Gary Did you find out what the problem was. I just replaced parts in my solenoid, refitted starter motor ,battery etc. tried to start it and it is going crazy. Lights on dash go dim, tailgate window came down an Md stayed down, funny kind of pulsing noise fro near some relays and possibly oil pump. Help! Cheers Tom
