RMEHUNTER
There is a pipe coming off the bottom of my TD5 turbo that came loose a couple weeks ago and sprayed oil on the exhaust (the connection to the block). I was able to clean it up and tighten it. 2 weeks later it came loose again. Should I try some sort of thread sealant or is this a sign of another larger issue? Thank you in advance for the help. steve200TDi
Hi, I believe it's the turbo oil drain pipe you are referring too. If you say you've already tightened it up and its come loose again. i would remove the pipe fully, clean and inspect it. The thread on the pipe or block may have be damaged or the pipe itself may have degraded. When refitting it I guess a drop of thread sealant would hurt. RMEHUNTER
I will order a new pipe. While waiting on the new one I backed the nut out and put a little sealant on it. I had to make a "custom" wrench as my hands are a little big for that spot.
jbs
I made something similar for the stop solenoid on my 200 tdi's FIP-out of a 24mm open ended spanner John
