Question is should i convert to a Box trailer using angle iron plywood etc, or go the frame method and canvas?. Security is not that important as i use a secure compound in Bosnia ( British Army). Also any idea as to how high i could go with the frame or canvas before it became unstable. Any thoughts ideas would be appreciated. GBMUD Posted October 18, 2006 Share Posted October 18, 2006 Here is the trailer I carry my quad about in. For scale, the bed is 8' long and 4'6" wide in addition to which there is the A-frame and the wheels add another 6-8" either side . The canopy stands about 5' high from the bed of the trailer. I made the frame from timber, 50mm x 50mm with 38mm x 19mm (IIRC) battens. Easier to work than steel and about the same weight for strength at a guess. I have had no issues with stability, towing across the Severn bridge in high winds etc. but seldom tow it far empty so it may not be so good without ballast.
