ashcroft lsd question

hi all, my nephew recently bought an ashcroft lsd, we fitted it to the rear axle last week and all seems well and good, however during a lane run at the weekend he got stuck a few times, both wheels spun on the back axle the first time and we thought magic it works the next time he got stuck only one wheel spun no matter what we did is this normal. We pulled the half shafts when we got home to make sure we had drive at both wheels, so is this normal operation for an ashcroft lsd ?

cheers gary

As above, if 1 wheel waves in the air, it still works as a diff, it needs torque to make the internal friction work. a quick press on the brake pedal can make that happen.

Also if both wheels are on the ground and 1 wheels spins, that is not to say the other doesn't work, it probably receives more torque than the spinning wheel, it just has a lot more grip than the spinning wheel.
