minilander86
What's a good starter cb pack to get? Or what's a good cb radio???
western
Thunderpole do various 'starter packs' http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/cb-radio-packs.html Communications eleven have similar packs http://www.4x4cb.com/public/menu.cfm?Category=519&Browse=Products I've dealt with both before & they both know their stuff, you won't go wrong if you buy from either of these suppliers. Boydie
The small 5 watt GME 80 channel unit is fine, I've had mine for well over 5 years now and its never failed me once. The "kit" came complete with ariel and 90% of all the wiring that is needed, the only "accessory" I purchased outside of what was included in the kit being the microphone extension lead so that I could have the CB unit fitted in the roof light switch console and the mike located conveniently on the dashboard where the silly loose change slot used to be. I've found that the range with the supplied ariel is around 30 kilometres on flat ground and around 90 kilometres if I take the standard ariel off and replace it with a GME high gain unit. Clarity through the built-in speaker is exceptional, depending on the volume and squelch setting.
Radiotronics
If you're installing it in a LR, take a look at the CBs that have a DIN mount option so that you can mount them in a spare DIN slot in the dash.
