johntd42003
Is this repairable ? Its were the tow bar bolts on to frame underneath ? Is this a m.o.t failer ? Can I even still uses it to tow a carvan ? Can I even get this fixed ?
elbekko
Looks like you hit that wall with a lot of determination I'm not too familiar with how a Freelander looks underneath, but I think you've bent the "chassis rail" (as far as they have one), that wouldn't be easy to repair at all. qwakers
that would need putting on a jig to fix even if it can be done, and is definitely a mot failure. i really wouldn't consider towing with it.
rrr47
If your fully comp can you not claim on your insurance?
johntd42003
So pulling it out and welding some thick metal around it wouldn't that work ?
stuck
Is your user name indicative of the age of the car? (2003) If it is & you are looking to claim through your insurance I'm afraid that looks like a write off to me.
johntd42003
The car is a td4 bmw engine low miles shame really as you wouldn't know it has this damage is there any way around a m.o.t ?.
johntd42003
Wouldn't a hammer beat this? and some 3 or 5mm metal box welded over this strengthen it up ? And get it through a m.o.t ?
qwakers
your car is a monocoque. the bits that are bent are part of the chassis. bodging it is out of the question unless you want your family to die if someone runs into the back of you. as i said the only possible safe repair is ti get it on a hydraulic jig and have it pulled straight.
