steve parker tdi200 defender to series conversion exhaust

I'm trying to fit one of these at the moment, and am struggling a bit with the route, in my series 3 LWB.

It seems to fit nicely with the tail pipe exiting behind the rear spring hanger, but I'm sure the old exhaust came out in front of the rear of the back spring hanger.

It's no big deal, except that the bracket on the chassis is now in the wrong place! Any one done this and can remember?

Cheers,

G.

The centre and rear sections are standard V8 or 2.6, I can't remember which. The routing is different behind the rear axle, and I had to make up a bracket to fit to the chassis with rivnuts. It makes fitting mudguards harder, too.

That confirms it.

I've put a bracket behind the spring hanger rear mount, similar to the one on the front of the rear mount. Should do the trick.

All I need now are the rubber blocks, the old ones just ripped as I was fitting the new exhaust.

Thanks Nick.

G.

PS my mudguards are on the rear cross member, hopefully the exhaust will clear as I don't like the hole in a mudguard plan.

The genuine rubbers have weaves of fibre in them, similar to canvass but must be waterproof. Pattern rubbers are plain and tend to stretch and tear far more easily. Make sure you have the brass eyelets for the bolt holes, too, as they prevent crushing and tearing of the rubber.

Yes, I've learned that. I've bought some aftermarket through eBay as the delivery time is better, but once I've a bit of time I'll buy genuine and refit.

I know, I know, doing the job twice, but I need to get the job done by Friday week, and the proper suppliers can take so long to deliver.
