dred90
Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing the fuse to blow every time I go to use the horn on my 200 tdi, what should i be checking first, before I go and replace the horn itself.. TheRecklessEngineer
Unplug the horn, and check to see if there is a continuity (or low resistance) between the wire and ground. If there is, there is a problem with the wire. More likely its the horn. New one from a breakers will only be a couple of quid.
western
check wiring & the push part of the stalk, you can pop the end off with a small screwdriver, might be the contacts are dirty/worn, but most likely a duff horn.
Guest diesel_jim
Get a multimeter, pull the spade terminal off of the horn and measure the continuety between the cable and earth.... if there is minimal resistance then it'll be the wiring. If you've not got a meter, then pull the wire off, then push the horn button again... if the fuse still blows then it's the "wiring" side of it (from the horn back up through the wing to the steering column) if fuse doesn't blow, it's the horn.
