Andy1973
Hi there, can anyone please help me as my 2002 freelander td4 has died and I have run out of ideas. Saturday I moved the car out of the garage to change the coolant. Car started fine. Turned engine off and changed coolant as far as poss. Went to re start and all I got was a clunk noise. Thought flat battery. Charged battery fully and nothing. Check visually wiring all looks good, swapped around relays checked fuses nothing. Looked on another forum and was suggested starter motor knackered. Stripped it down and cleaned etc, still nothing. Fitted new starter today got one clunk noise and now nothing....any one please have any ideas pointers etc. my head hurts from banging it on the wall Cheers andy
dave88sw
Put a jump lead from the battery direct to the engine (lifting eye or something, scratch it about a bit to get a good contact through paint). Could just be a bad earth.
Rangy35
Where did you put the coolant in? sorry this may sound awe full what I just asked, because you just described a hydraulic lock. First you seem handy, I would put a socket on the crank and see if the engine can rotate without hassles.
