reb78
I bought a genuine two tab heated screen a few years ago which sat under my bed until spring this year when i had it fitted. I've not wired it in yet, but today i noticed what looks like rust on the bottom 'element' - i.e. the bit that carries the current along the bottom of the glass to each little element. Is this likely to have a negative effect on the functioning of the screen? I guess i wont know until i wire it up.
Chrisjamez
The rust shouldn't make that much of a difference but if you are concerned gently remove rust and if a track gets damaged whilst removing the rust use http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-equipment/auto-electrical-supplies/granville-rear-heater-repair to fix it

reb78
Trouble is its the winscreen and the rust is on the bottom element between the laminates of glass.
chadler
That repair kit is for rear screen heaters with exposed elements, no use at all in fixing heated front screens with their integral elements unfortunately
Chrisjamez
Didn't realise it was the front screen sorry yeah as chadler said it's no good for that sorry
CwazyWabbit
Is it definitely rust? Chuck a picture up if you get a chance please (just because I'm curious)
reb78
I think so Barry. It doesn't seem correct as is have thought that strip is copper and solder. I'll grab a pic and post it later.
