Petrol csw front chassis leg and engine issue

Recommended Posts

Hi. New here. I have just acquired a 1989 petrol Landrover 90 4c sw. Had a good look over. And rear cross member and front legs need replacing. Once I remove old rotten legs, and have replaced with new. What do I do about the vin number. I don't know anyone who can restamp, if allowed. Or do I leave it blank?? Also just before my purchase, the last owner converted it to a 300 tdi. But the v5 still says petrol. What do I do about this. Thanks in advance.

It is possible to stamp the number yourself. Or it was when I put a new chassis under an Airportable a few years ago.

Back then you could simply drive to the local vehicle licensing office with your V5 and somebody would look the vehicle over. The fellow who inspected mine asked me if I had stamped the new chassis with the original number, looked at it to confirm and that was it.

Of course these days it all has to be done via Swansea and I am still trying to convince them that they made a mistake when they sent me a new V5 where they have recorded my 110 as an 18 seat vehicle, this has been going on for 5 months and I am no further forward at all.
