  1. Thats whats worrying me , the time it has stood. What do yous think of this one, was thinking of making an offer but still undecided. Land Rover Series 3 2250cc petrol engine, 3 bearing, 8:1 comp, starts & runs. | eBay https://youtu.be/psmKzDr4AXM I am a complete novice when it comes to engines I wouldn't know a good one from a bad one.
  2. I did want the 2.25 petrol but not many about, or the ones that are are silly prices. Will get a look at this 19 j and see what it is like, if the story is true and it does only have 7000 miles on it should be a decent engine.
  3. Starting rebuild. Dont have engine yet but was looking for an original petrol 2.25. but got the chance of a very good 19 j Turbo, story is this was took out of a damaged defender years ago with only 7000 miles on it, it has been stored since then and is still in great condition. not agreed a price yet but my Qeustion is is it an easy ish conversion in to my Series 109 LWB ? read a few bad things about these engines,
  4. Thanks Mate. Its a full rebuild so can match pipe to whatever cylinders I get
  5. Think Ive sused it now. yes wrong drums on front. think I need these kits. Front Brake Kit | SWB From June 1980 & LWB - Paddock Spares Rear Brake Kit | LWB - Paddock Spares
  6. Well now Im really confused, mind you it does not take much. Im sure I read somewhere that some models had 11 inch rear and 10 inch at front Anyway this is what I have just took off 109 axle, 11inch at rear and 10 inch at front. Now the rear had the backing plate and shoes fitted but they are missing from the front. First pic is Drums rear on the left and front on the right. Second pic is brakes that were in rear, Is this wrong, Need to know as going to Order new parts for Rebuild.
  7. Axles in the shed ready to dismantle, then rebuild and paint.
  8. Found an old indicator from series tub, tried it but still no joy, then again it was very old so probably knackerd too.My local dealer will have one in, they are open tomorrow so will try a New one.If this dosnt work then I m stumped as Cant think of anything else it could be
  9. Removed and cleaned every earth and was still the same. Swapped the live wires from side light to indicator on left front and they now work as they should. Just the rear right indicator, checked wires changed bulb but nothing, thinking only thing it can be now is the bulb holder, will try and find one and try it. unless ive missed something else.
  10. Only checked earths for tightness, but will lose them off tomorrow and clean them up.
  11. Got my defender back from the paint shop today and the Indicators are on the blink. must have done something when he has had lights off for painting. rear right does not work, and the front left has a mind of its own, when turned on they flashes very fast a they do when one is off, but the side light on front left flashes away with the rest and the orange lens does nothing untill I turn lights on then it thinks its a constant side light. got me really confused, ive checked fuses and they are ok all earths seem to be ok too. Any Ideas ?
  12. it does ned a couple of tiny patches welding, but Im thinking of getting it shot blasted first to make sure there is nothing esle there, then repainting it Black also Axles which I will be rebuilding, ive done Defender axles so hoping these Series are similar.
  13. Thats a Mates he needs it for other project, Im using green Tub and wings from this one.
  14. Starting a new build, 1970 Series Pickup. Got this one in first pic, Chassis is knackered but got another really good one in second and third pic. The good chassis has a 6 cylinder petrol engine on it but this does not come with it, I have a really good 300Tdi but cant really be faffed with all the alterations it will need to fit. I might have the chance of another Petrol not sure if its 2.25, or 2,5 Question is will it go straight on to Mounts where the 6 cylinder was ??
  15. OK Everyone Please forget this, I am really Embarrassed now, I have mistaken the Reverse lights on these new units for side lights, was thinking of buying one of those square reverse lights like the Defender ones, thinking Im still working on Defender instead of this Bloody Sazuki SJ. Really sorry for the hassle please forgive me. Got and old series lined up for my next project so hopefully get that in soon. Thanks Evertone.
  16. Sorry I mean the middle light, red lens which also has Brake Light ,
  17. I'm sure I've got the wires in right place on plug now, I have Indicators Main Light and Brake, But still no Side light, Only way I can get Side light to work with the rest is by splicing in to Number Plate light wire, which is not fitted yet. Could I do it this way ? Thanks
  18. Thanks Mate Think Ive got it from that.
  19. I know Mate but even if I find one IM hopeless at them, but will find one and have a go. Cheers will try and work it out
  20. Sorry to ask on here but Ive loads of help with my Defender Electrics, couldnt have done it without Western. Anyway I am helping my Son doing up his SJ, well he works away all week so its me doing all the bloody work. So Trying to fit new rear lights in to SJ, Got my head done in , problem is the New units have different coloured wires to the wires coming from Loom.I can get the Indicator to work with either the Side light or the main light but not both together.First pic is New wires on unit, second is the Origional wires coming from SJ.Any Ideas. Thanks
  21. And Me, would take me half hour just to get Injector pipes off 🙂
  22. Thanks Do you mean the cable on the Lever or on the Box ?
  23. Will take that lever off and check wiring. When I fitted new matrix I checked the flap on the lever and it does work, ie opens and closes but was not quite closing fully, maybe half inch gap left when in fully closed position. Will open the lid and see if I can see without having to take matrix back out.
  24. will have a look at cable. Would that cause the blower to work only in that one position ?
