  1. Fitted the sedimentor today. Here's some pictures for future reference. Note that not fitted the fuel lines yet and suspect that the blanking bolts on the sedimentor need swapping around, i.e. fuel in and out will both enter the fuel sedimentor from the left. Thanks all, Simon...
  2. Hi Folks, Thanks. Makes sense. Have now fitted the bracket. Tank going back on tomorrow. Simon...
  3. Hi Folks, In the process of refitting the fuel tank back to our 1997 Defender 110 Looking at the bracket and comparing to the workshop manual, seems to suggest that some of the flanges on the bracket are bent over the retaining bolts and chassis. Thoughts? Many Thanks, Simon...
  4. Worth taking the effort to find out. Watching this thread with interest as about to fit a new gasket. Simon...
  5. My understanding is that the gasket thickness does not need to be changed if only the head is skimmed - only needs to be changed if the block is skimmed.
  6. Here's the side of our 300 Tdi engine block. The mounting for the fuel pump does look quite deep. Simon...
  7. Hi Folks, Wondering if anybody has any images of where the sedimentor bracket should be located on a 110 300 Tdi. Believe that the part number is NRC5623, part 11 on following diagram. https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-rover-defender-fuel-air-emission-systems/fuel-system/sedimentors_53508 Looking at the part, suspect it must bolt on to some fin off the chassis as opposed to going through it, the bolts being 20mm in length. Wondering if there are existing holes to mount this? Thanks, Simon...
  8. Hi Folks, Hopefully folk can comment? Replacing the gaskets on our fuel lift pump - Defender 110 300 Tdi 1996 Trying to understand the image in the parts catalogue - What does the acronym "NSS" mean? In any case, unless I'm mistaken, seems that we had two gaskets fitted? Is this normal? Don't seem to recall anything else between them when I removed it? Thanks in advance, Simon...
  9. Bit more digging, looks like that connector is C115 for an electric fuel pump (possibly on V8). As such, think this is a no connect on our 300 Tdi. Simon...
  10. Wow. Thanks for quick reply! Yep. Was hoping to avoid having to buy another fuel pipe, but perhaps, it's worth it. Figuring this is ESR3133 or ESR3134?? (1996 Chassis VA....) I'll take another look across the back of the rear cross member. Nothing obvious when looking to see where it goes. Do you happen to know what it's for? Thanks, Simon...
  11. Hi Folks, Defender 110 1996 300 Tdi I've been left with the job of refitting the fuel tank after having had the rear cross member replaced. However, have some of issues. Hopefully there is some experienced advice on the forum that can help here. The plastic pipe from the sender was broken when the garage removed the tank - they fessed up to that. Suspect this means a new sender? Looking at the other end of the broken plastic pipe, there looks what appears to be a compression fitting which then threads onto to the fuel pipe. This is truly stuck and will not budge - try again tomorrow - Grrrr. Wondering what the part number is for this compression fitting? Might need to order a new one so it fits on new sender? Lastly, there are two electrical connectors hanging loose. One clearly goes to the sender. However, there is another (highlighted) which for the life on me cannot figure out where this needs to connect. Cylindrical housing with two wires. Is it for some other purpose/optional extra that I'm not aware of or have fitted. Thanks in advance, Simon...
  12. "2 pin slider" - Liking it 🙂 Thanks, Simon...
  13. Hi Folks, 1997 Defender 110 CSW - Looking to replace the tow gear after having had a new rear cross member fitted. 🙂 Ideally an adjustable height one. Thinking that RTC8828AA would fit the bill. Would be interested in comments/experience before hitting the piggy bank. Thanks, Simon...
  14. Planning on doing something similar myself. Was thinking of using the bolt holes that are used to secure the seat belt frames once they have been removed. Large sections of wood spanning the arches and bolted in. Drawers underneath in a housing laid on the floor but secured to the spanning timber. Simon...
  15. Thanks all. Looking to get a new clutch and saw "PR2 Valeo" from Allmakes and a "Valeo" from Bearmach Couldn't quite understand the branding. Simon...
  16. Hi Folks, Quite often see "PR2" prefaced before the brand type, e.g. PR2 Valeo, or PR2 AP Driveline. Would be interested to know what that means? Thanks, Simon...
  17. Thanks folks. Appreciate the feedback. Elring, new bolts and time for the head to get inspected. Simon...
  18. Yep. Good spot on the gasket. The rear of the block does look like it may have been blowing. With respect to gasket replacement, what's the consensus about which brand/make to replace with? Noticed that Turners do ERR5262 (OEM Elring) as well as LVB500210 (Victor Reinz). Or should I simply just go Genuine LR? Thanks, Simon...
  19. Hi Folks, Thanks for the prompt responses. Hoping indeed that it is perhaps residual coolant from the cylinder head dripping out upon removal. The top of the piston and the side walls of the cylinder number 3 look no different to the others. In any case, here's an image of the whole gasket. Simon...
  20. Hi Folks, Have just removed the cylinder head off our 300Tdi Noticed some water on the top of cylinder number 3 head. Coincidently removing the injector from this cylinder was also a complete pig. Would be interested in your thoughts. Thanks, Simon...
  21. Think I've answered my own question with more web searching - 32mm thin profile spanner, left hand threaded nut? Simon...
