  1. Hi Folks, Looking likely that will need to replace the rear cross member of my 1996 110 Defender 300Tdi - Advisory on last MOT and can see some spots not looking great. The rest of the chassis though is in excellent condition. Looking for advice on replacement options and recommendations of who might be able to undertake such work. I'm based in Bristol. Many thanks in advance. Simon...
  2. Thanks guys. Worried that there would be bonding. Glad to hear otherwise. Simon...
  3. Hi Folks, Looking to refit a wheel mounted bonnet kit to Defender 110 300Tdi. Current wheel mount bracket is corroded. The instructions seem to suggest some sort of paste/glue required. Please could folk help me understand what this is and its purpose. Attached some images for reference. Thanks for any help and insight here! Simon...
  4. Would not recommend sealant as it will likely just get everywhere and make a real mess as well as cause issues on fitting. New genuine seal and Pilkington glass with thorough clean of body before fitting - no leaks - at least on the window anyway 😀
  5. Hi There, Write up from when fitted my one - hope it helps and good luck! http://pellylandroverdefender.blogspot.com/p/windscreen.html Simon...
  6. Hi Folks, Hopefully you folk can help provide some guidance - googling the answer seems a little inconsistent. Defender 110 300 Tdi. Replacing diff/axle oils. Wondering what torque settings for the diff drain and filler plugs? Many thanks, Simon...
  7. Hi There, Long shot - Folded neatly in the rear door my Defender 110, behind the trim panel, was printed the original build instructions. Old school dot matrix, alternate green/white lined paper. This had the colour code which help me. Simon...
  8. Fully recommend "technozen-electronics" - They fixed my 10AS unit and re-programmed as necessary. They also sent copy of all the settings and alarm codes. Good to know in the future if need to get reprogrammed keys. Simon...
  9. Happy to screw, nut, bolt, etc.. Essentially anything that can either be undone or paused (read any excuse for a cuppa/biscuit) Glues, paints, mastic, sealant, etc... - things get more stressed. Good luck with the project. Simon...
  10. Some more images. Hopefully they are helpful.
  11. Used to have a leak and replaced with genuine foam seals. All good now.
  12. Think the part you may be after is BTR5232 I'm still trying to source one for the LH side, BTR5233. Simon...
  13. Here’s a link to when fitted to my 1997 300 Tdi - scroll half way downish... https://pellylandroverdefender.blogspot.com/p/autumn-2017.html?m=1 Simon...
  14. Dash did not need to be removed. Just the vertical side trims on the A pillars. The problem areas are the corners. The section across the top of the dash was no problem at all. It did help to have an extra pair of hands to help position square though. Not too much pressure from the outside as it makes pulling the seal through more tricky. As always, second time round will be easier! Good luck. Simon...
  15. Hi There, Perhaps a close up which *may* help? Simon...
  16. Hi Folks, Perfect. Thanks for the replies. All fixed up now. Simon...
  17. Hi Folks, 1997 110 Defender 300 Tdi Just noticed behind the clutch box and infront of the bulk head, there is a pipe and cable attached together with a bracket and clip. They all hang loose though. The bracket appears to have a hole ready for mounting somewhere. Please let me know if this should be mounted or is left loose like this. Many Thanks, Simon...
  18. Hi Folks, Thanks for all the replies and in particular "Eightpot" for more details on the whole process. Made a "spray booth" in the kitchen with some spare packing cardboard. Doing some trial runs on a spare piece of aluminium sheet first. Sourced an A1P3 mask after using a "sanding" mask which turned out to be useless. The actual panels I'll be spraying are the two front vent flaps which have now been paint stripped and wet sanded. Story for another day. Wish me luck! Simon....
  19. Thanks for replies so far. Have taken over the kitchen - other half so far keeping a sense of humour. Glad not to be in shed in this weather. Etching coats seem covered by above. Thanks for reply. How long from etch to first of colour coats? Touch dry 30 minutes or 24 hours? Simon...
  20. Hi Folks, Looking to spray up some bare aluminium. Granted will clean, degrease, wet sand P600, abrade, etch primer (2 coats), top metallic colour (2 coats) and lacquer (2 coats). Small panel, so using rattle cans. The cans all state touch dry timings of 30mins. However, would be intersted to know thoughts on how long to leave between coats, e.g. how long between etchs, how long from etch to colour, how long between colour coats and similaely to lacquer and between lacquers. Should you wait for touch dry, longer or shorter. Many thanks for advise, Simon...
  21. Update. Have tested the supply to the park switch. All good there. Looking more closely at the wipers, there is a fair amount of play. The wipers can be rotated somewhat on the splined drums. Will see if can tighten up later. Simon...
  22. Hi Folks, Having issue with the parking position of the front wipers. They come to rest around anywhere between 10-30 degress from the horizontal. Just changed the parking switch in the hope that it would alleviate the problem. However, issue still persists. Looking for suggestions on how to diagnose further. Many thanks, Simon... 23. Hi Folks, Seen references in previous blog posts to some 2nd row seat extensions that were made by Trakkers. However, cannot see a current website reference to them. Looking at options for gaining some extra leg room in the 2nd row. Currently have 3 individual high back seats from Exmoor trim. Have also seen Exmoor do "Premium" seats quoting extra leg room. Can anybody comment on how much leg room is actually achieved? Many Thanks, Simon... Defender 110 CSW 300Tdi 1997
