  4. hi guys, thanks alot for the replies, jacks906, the thing is that i dont have a rev counter, as instead i have the clock. i have to find an original rev counter that fits instead of the clock. c18rch, the speed i mentioned are km/hr, sorry here in malta we use km/hr. i think i solved the problem, i looked at the alternator to see whats going wrong with it as the light was blinking when reving and noticed a loose main. i fixed it and went for a ride...it seems that the loss of power at the said speeds is ok now. cannot understand whats the connection between the alternator and the loss of power at certain speeds. thanks alot gil
  5. Hi guys!!! great ppl in here and very interesting forum!! may i ask a question please? i have a standard td5 (engine-wise) YoM 2000, the only modification is the exhaust. lately i noticed that on third gear at exactly 60km/hr the engine stops accelerating, then when i go to 4th the same things happen at exactly 80km/hr!!! cannot understand!! than at 5th gear nothing stops her!!! it continues to accelerate and giving power!!! another thing i noticed this week is that at high revs the alternator light in the dash board starts blinking. don't know if its related! can you please help me!!! thanks in advance! gil
  6. thanks alot!! so even if they are gas shocks like the es9000's...they will work upside down. gil
  7. thought so that it might be a 'damage' from paddock by any chance do the shocks work if i fit them the upside down??? thanks gil
  8. hi guys!!! first of all well done for this forum!! i have a defender td5 and lately i put the double shock turrets on the front....i bought the turrets from paddock....my problem is that the outer shock is touching with coils! when on road, normal driving it almost touches, then when it starts to flex it touches!!! don t know y!!! if i put the shock the other way round that is the shaft with the axle and the 'case' with the turret...will it work properly?? thanks gil
  9. usually its the O rings that start leaking...i tried to replace the O rings but....mission failed...after i put everything back and started engine it was like an open tap of fuel running under my 90. and as Bogmonster said i had to buy the whole thing...i think the fault from landrover is that the casing of that pressure regulator is made from aluminium and its a bit soft as a material to resist that pressure of fuel inside there and so the casing "erodes" sort of and starts leaking from the o rings. sorry my english hope i'm understood...not from england gilslandy
  10. thanks jasong4110.....by any chance do u have a pic of the setup gil
  11. yes nas90 ur so right!! the problem was neither i had a winch nor the stuck landy! so we had to snatch pull the landy!! i know its not the safest way of doing it but we couldnt do otherwise!! thanks gil
  12. yep ur right mate! this morning tried to remove the standard tank guard or double skin sort of and it seems that without it u can manage to put nuts between tank and cross member! then i put an aftermarket tank guiard to protect the tank! gil
  13. Thanks alot Bogmonster!! very usefull info! so now i just put on a normal hitch...but still i have the threads sheered in the cross member! so first have to solve that! i know its not that healthy to flat out in second low for a td5 cross member but that was the only option to get my friend out of there...wasn't healthy for his bumber too! thanks gil
  14. Hi guys! This is my first post here! I've been following the forum for a couple of months now... I have a 1999 Defender Td5 and this weekend i had to recover a friend of mine, cos he got stuck in mud....i had to get him out of mud giving snatch pulls, couldn't do otherwise...the thing is that the TD5 cross member has in-built thread to fix the tow point with which in my case i have a NATO hook....with the pulling the thread sheered and now can't put bolts instead as behind the cross member there is the fuel tank so there isn't space to put a back plate to strenghten the cross memeber while towing and the securing nuts! any suggestions pls for a tow point without using the massive original tow point that gets you stuck everywhere lol!! Gil
