I've just had a chat with my dad who agrees it should be fine and he's happy to machine a spigot bush up. So it's looking like it's a goer.

Right so I have an lt77 that came out of a range rover that had a factory 200tdi retro fit kit. It's a V8 lt77 with a diesel bell housing and it had a special spigot bush.
Excuse the bit of glove attached to the end of the input shaft. This is a knackered diesel lt77.
According to my slightly dodgy measurements the V8 input shaft is 7mm shorter but would still pick in a spigot bush nicely. The clutch would also pick up on the splines but not the full length again around 7mm short (the splines protrude through the clutch on a diesel according to the witness marks). I can potentially get a spigot bush made, so I'm seriously considering this as lt77's are getting thin on the ground and I believe this to be a good box. This is also an almost no money solution and the worst that could happen is it strips the clutch splines.

yes there not standard, however I can get a full set of replacement lights for the cost of a couple of military style lenses, makes sense to me anyway
Regards Stephen
Oh yeah because the rest of the truck is utterly standard.

Not a fun way to ring in the new year, speaking from experience
Maybe start by opening your current box and seeing what's wrong? May be able to rebuild it with bits from the V8 one.
No point in opening it, to change the input shaft you need to strip the whole box. There's a chance it's just the output splines but either way I need another box. The good news is I suspect the rear main seal is leaking so I can change that while in there.

I have a V8 lt77 but I know the spigot bush is different and need to check what other difference's there are. I know it's possible to fit a V8 box to a 200tdi as the factory repower kits for the range rover classic did exactly this. A friend has an unknown diesel lt77, If all else fails I'll look at a recon box.

The truck is at fridgefreezer's, he dropped me home at 3am as I've got to drop the wife into town early doors. I've got to go and empty fridges stuff out later and trailer it home.
Then I can have a look to find out what's dead. Having moved it on and off two recovery trucks, we tried to push it and couldn't move it. We had to put the transfer box in neutral to move it so it looks like the something has gone bang in the gearbox then seized the box up.

Happy new year all.

Surely it makes more sense to fit complete units rather than bulbs. Especially as it removes the legal issues and gives good light spread.
I had the boltonbits version of these on 45:
They are standard size and fitment.

I'm a little unclear what has happened, I assume you bought a crashed car repaired it and tried to put it back on the road. Unless it was stolen/used in a crime I don't see why the police were involved. Unless the car was deemed parts only it should still have it's ID.
If it's no longer got a vin number you will need to apply for one. Then it may need and IVA (should be the import IVA rather than kit car), if it's bog standard you may not need an IVA but you will need some paperwork instead. Once you have an IVA certificate or the correct paperwork you should be able to apply for a registration. You may be offered an age related or a Q.

That sounds really dubious; who's fooling who? So Munro have IP on some control gear and a battery array but no vehicle and Foers have a vehicle and are doing a BEV version independently. Capitalism at it's finest!
I think it was the plan to work together originally but that didn't work out. Foers have always been willing to build whatever you want so electric is just a different driveline to them. Let's face it they can just pull all the gear out of a car and mount it in their chassis. Failing that a motor some battery's etc and some R&D job done. Munro on the other hand have done the R&D but need to build a vehicle. I wouldn't mind betting an investor has come forward and wanted it all in house for better control.
For me the good news is a car I like is going electric, built by a company that's been around for years and I trust. Yes the development by foers will likely be slower as I doubt they'll have backing but anything they build will be built for the job no compromise.

In other news foers have released a press statement. The short version is they sold Munro an ibex for prototyping and that's as far as the collaboration went. However foers are developing their own EV. So watch this space.

Daft question but did you get all the oil/water out of the bolt holes before the head was fitted. It's easy to forget and it only takes a small amount to hydraulic the bolt, then it torque's correctly but is in fact loose.

Elring for me too. However the current gasket isn't because I was skint and in a hurry (having done three head gaskets on the same engine this year).

Just a point to remember, at some point you will "need" to put the 110 on the lift the other way round. At that stage it doesn't matter where your centre of gravity is because it the exact opposite of what you designed for. So allow for all situations.

I have to admit I've never had trouble with just a screwdriver and hammer.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I'd probably inject down the glow plug holes to be fair.

Yes you can put oil in through the injector holes but turn it over slowly after as you can hydraulic it if you add to much. Try using ATF as it's nice and thin but also has rust eating properties.

Well the MGW of a 90 of its age is 2400kg… so I need to be quite a way under that! I’d like to be close to 2000kg… but we’ll see how that goes.
My ibex is 2000kg so if you pip squeeks can't get under that I'm worried.

I would get a quote for filling the holes in the floor professionally. Then you can go to the landlord and offer a refundable deposit for that amount. That way if you don't sort it when you leave he has the money to sort it. I suspect the landlord will be more agreeable if he's sure it's not costing him.

Yes, is it exempt from the clean air zones? Ideal runabout for the city. I like that. In matt black.
I doubt it as it's on a Q plate, though some of the first Q plates must be reaching tax exempt age. Whether they get tax exempt status is another matter.

No, my "dad" is my dad, he's a retired mechanical engineer with a decent lathe and mill at home and he lives in the new forest just down the road from me. Having spoken to him it's a goer.
