Has anybody any experience of the BAS "Remap Interface"?
http://bellautoservices.co.uk/bas-remap-interface/
It would seem you plug it into your ECU, upload the config fle (you can also read and reset fault codes) email that to them and they will then send you a "tuned" remap.
At £600 it's a bit spendy (doesn't stipulate how much they then charge to alter the config file so I've emailed them) but seems to give you the option of switching maps without having to get the truck back to them.
Edit: C*ck, doesn't support TD5.

Glad to hear it.
Did you get my message regarding "aquiring" any cable you require?
ATB,
Mick.

I am in Lancahsire and went to Pete at Bell Autos near York. I can not remember how much i spent in total, but i did get other stuff, but whatever it cost, it was the best amount of money I have spent in a long time.
If you fancy a drive of my 90 to get a feel what it goes like, drop me a PM.
Nick,
That is very generous of you.
Thanks for the information, PM sent.

I would quite happily show my ID to someone if I was buying a car etc! Surely it is common sense to prove who you are before the paperwork is signed... if that wasnt done, then they could give any name and address, use the car for robbery etc, and the poor sod at that address would get the sh!t.
Refusing ID is stupid if you ask me!
Not if you are a satanic secret agent like me
Lighten up chaps!

^^^^ As above,
5" lift is quite extreme, I had a RRC with 3" suspension lift and 35" tyres and that wasn't good to drive on the road.
Bloody good fun off road though untill I broke the chassis

Thanks for that Nicks90.
That was the answer I was expecting.
Anybody know of a reputable company that can do a remap in or around Lancashire?
Mick.

Paul,
Smego is spot on with his calcs, 0.065 mA is something I can't measure with a very spendy meter so check that number first.
If that draw rate is correct ask your mate to meaasure the resistance between the engine block and the -ve terminal on your battery.

SVA Police will be turning up any minute...

Hi Gent's,
Does anybody have any experience of the Chip Express tuning box?
Is it worth the £395 asking price and is it safe to use?
Thanks,
Mick.

Nige,
I was in a similar position and in the end I went for an old Colchester Student with a gap bed.
I managed to find one with very little backlash and it's superb.
I converted mine to single phase without much faff but you will be limited to about 4HP if you are wanting to run it from a socket, mine is ok like this, only thing it wont do is set off at max rpm with a cold gearbox (it trips the breaker), once it's been used for 5 minutes it's fine though.
I know where there may be one for sale but it's in Derbyshire...

Ah, so it was an optional extra
"Does Sir want his truck to be able to cope with roundabouts?"
Thanks Ralph.

As the title really,
My TD5 van back has always wallowed like a pig in the corners but doesn't have a ARB fitted.
Have ordered an X-Flex jobbie so that should improve it's on road manners but I'm curious if mine would have had one fitted originally?
Thanks,
Mick.

I'd stay with the existing fuel cap, I really hate the Td5 key in & unscrew type, right pain to remove.
I will second that, if you have house and workshop keys on your bunch it's a pain in the arse!
-
Sorry to drag this up again Gent's.
Can anybody tell me if the "Challenge Kit" is suitable for a 110 van back as sold or would I need to specify different springs?
Cheers,
Mick.

Have you got a soldering iron?
If so you could try "tinning" the thin wire, should give it sufficient rigidity to enable you to push it in.
If you don't have one you can borrow mine, I've already committed to doing some wiring on a mate's truck in the morning though so you would have to come over and pick it up.
Give me a call if you want to borrow.
-
Glad you got it sorted mate.

Who is the maker of the currently fitted tow hitch ?
try Dixon-Bate/Bradley doublelock http://www.dixonbate.co.uk/spares/towing_accessories.asp
Sorry should have said it was a Dixon Bradley.
Cheers Ralph, spot on as always.

Go on,
Who's going to be the first to mention MS

Sorry about this but can anybody tell me where I can buy a replacement towing pin for a standard tow bar?
I can find lot's of complete tow bars but I only need the pin.
Thanks,
Mick.

Don't wish to be rude but you would be better off giving a paraplegic a ratchet than trying to use sip, Clarke etc on a LR.
I have Ingersoll Rand air tools, haven't found better yet.
To be honest I think your compressor is a bit on the small size but you can always have a cup of tea and let it catch up if you are doing a lot of work.

There was a post on here recently were a couple of guys had fitted Recaros from a Rover 75 IIRC,
They seemed quite happy with them.
-
Heli-coil would be your only option I think apart from a new head.
Wouldn't have thought one plug coming loose would cause it to stall on the move though.
Hopefully a sensible person will be along soon.

Different I suppose.
Don't like where the defender bonnet means the RR panel.
