  1. Has anybody any experience of the BAS "Remap Interface"?

    http://bellautoservices.co.uk/bas-remap-interface/

It would seem you plug it into your ECU, upload the config fle (you can also read and reset fault codes) email that to them and they will then send you a "tuned" remap.

At £600 it's a bit spendy (doesn't stipulate how much they then charge to alter the config file so I've emailed them) but seems to give you the option of switching maps without having to get the truck back to them.

    Edit: C*ck, doesn't support TD5.

  2. I am in Lancahsire and went to Pete at Bell Autos near York. I can not remember how much i spent in total, but i did get other stuff, but whatever it cost, it was the best amount of money I have spent in a long time.

If you fancy a drive of my 90 to get a feel what it goes like, drop me a PM.

    Nick,

That is very generous of you.

Thanks for the information, PM sent.

  3. I would quite happily show my ID to someone if I was buying a car etc! Surely it is common sense to prove who you are before the paperwork is signed... if that wasnt done, then they could give any name and address, use the car for robbery etc, and the poor sod at that address would get the sh!t.

Refusing ID is stupid if you ask me!

Not if you are a satanic secret agent like me :hysterical:

    Lighten up chaps!

  4. Nige,

I was in a similar position and in the end I went for an old Colchester Student with a gap bed.

I managed to find one with very little backlash and it's superb.

I converted mine to single phase without much faff but you will be limited to about 4HP if you are wanting to run it from a socket, mine is ok like this, only thing it wont do is set off at max rpm with a cold gearbox (it trips the breaker), once it's been used for 5 minutes it's fine though.

I know where there may be one for sale but it's in Derbyshire...

    HTH

    Mick.

  5. Have you got a soldering iron?

If so you could try "tinning" the thin wire, should give it sufficient rigidity to enable you to push it in.

If you don't have one you can borrow mine, I've already committed to doing some wiring on a mate's truck in the morning though so you would have to come over and pick it up.

Give me a call if you want to borrow.

  6. Don't wish to be rude but you would be better off giving a paraplegic a ratchet than trying to use sip, Clarke etc on a LR.

I have Ingersoll Rand air tools, haven't found better yet.

To be honest I think your compressor is a bit on the small size but you can always have a cup of tea and let it catch up if you are doing a lot of work.
