  1. Gents,

The donor RRC I'm using to build my CCV motor was fitted with ABS.

As I want to use a hydraulic isolation valve to lock in pressure on the rear brakes to provide a handbrake the master cylinder has one more port than I need (I want to just run one brake pipe via the valve to the back axle)

Can I just blank a port off or will the pressure build up mean I can't press the pedal?

Sorry if it's a really dumb question

  2. Gents's,

I'm looking for a couple of leccy fans for my CCV truck, the rad is from a 1990 RRC and is mounted in it's original location as is the engine (3.9 pre serp)

Question is what have people used in the past as I don't enjoy crawling around scrap yards working out what will fit :P

  3. Gent's still trying to get this bloody thing running, I've now got a lovely spark thanks to the above.

Truck wouldn't start and I can't smell petrol even though the pumps running so I checked continuity between pins 2 & 12 and 2 & 13 to check the injectors and was getting infinity, this appears to be due to no connection between pins 87 & 87A on the injector relay.

Can you tell me if the link is supposed to be inside the relay or in the relay connector ?

  4. Gents, the "complete" loom that came with my part built CCV truck has a section missing.

I've looked at the wiring diagram(s) in a book of lies and on the Rave manual but can't make sense of the coil / dissy wiring.

Both manuals show a wire leaving the ECU on a black & white conductor and connecting to the -Ve terminal of the coil but it doesn't show where the white conductor from the +Ve coil terminal goes or where the two wires on the distributor connect.

    Sorry if I'm being thick...

    Mick.

  5. Gents,

In need of some help please.

I bought a 3.9 complete with loom to drop into my CCV truck and I'm trying to figure out the wiring, looking at a RRC book of lies leads me to the conclusion that it's a post 1990 lump going from the type of ECU connector and the fact that it doesn't have a cold start injector but the thing that is puzzling me is the loom doesn't seem to have any provision for Lambada sensors (this suits me actualy as unless I modify the exhausts I don't have any where to mount them).

I've opened up the ECU connector and pins 23 & 24 are empty and as said above I can't find any wiring that should go to the sensors.

Q1: Did LR build anyhing with a 3.9 that wasn't fitted with Lambada sensors?

Q2: I'd squirt it but MS wont work without an air temp sensor and lambadas will it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mick.

  6. I don't have a photo to hand but I have the Azimuth's pointing out to the sides on a roof bar I knocked up that also has my main spot light bolted to.

Before anyone take's the pi$$ they are pointing to the side for a reason :D

  7. Putting my neck on the block here but have you considered a Ford Explorer on LPG?

I had one for a while, bloody comfortable, quicker than a Range Rover and would pull your house down.

AFAIK they are all auto, have 'lecy everything, air con and most have leather.

Only common fault I'm aware of is the cam chain tensioner can get noisy if the oil changes aren't carried out religiously.

Replace the standard tyres and they will even cope with moderate laneing.

Don't even consider one without LPG, mine didn't have and had a worse drink habit than I do

    Waiting for a slating, Mick.

  8. Gent's,

Had a drive to York today to pick up a new shotgun, whilst driving in the Ripon / Harrogate area I saw lot's of very shiny Pumas being driven by trendy types wearing shades, not one of them returned the Land Rover wave nor did they seem impressed by my very muddy 110 :P

I will admit I haven't read Vogue for a while so have Defender's become fashionable or something?!

    Cheers,

    Mick.

  9. it's the main fuel filter, check the water in fuel transmitter is still securely attached.

    Thanks Ralph,

Mine doesn't appear to have the transmitter, the wiring is there shorted out but nothing on the filter, filter fitted is a Mann WK730/2 is this from a TDi?

    Mick.
