  1. Looks exactly like the Clarke one I've got (except for the fact that mine has legs rather than being a bench top)

They are slow to use, I've got 14 cfm compressor with a 150 Ltr tank and it can't keep up with even the smallest nozzle.

If you have a mega compressor you won't be able to see what you are doing after 5 minutes anyway unless you fit some form of extraction (anl old Dyson does the trick.)

Oh, and you have to breath out whilst turning your head or the perspex window fogs up.

Having said all that they are superb for cleaning rust, cr@p and paint off, beats a wire brush any day!

    HTH

    Mick.

  2. Funny you should ask that I have just gotten mine today in the post with my new locks, a central locking kit with motors (4 wire) an alarm with remote and immobiliser and a microwave sensor as too draughty for ultrasonics all for about £50.

    Bargain!

Gonna fit an old leccy window rocker switch too so I can lock all doors from the cab like on a "normal" car.

    Smego,

Can I ask where you got that "kit" from please?

  3. Hi Gent's,

    Wondering if you can help,

I've just wired up my winch (Superwinch EPi 9.5) that I have taken of my broken RRC and put on my 110.

Winch has been stood idle for a while and I noticed that when I was trying to pull off the rope (clutch disengaged)it was a bloody struggle.

Now when I try to run it I can hear the brake disengaging and the motor trying to turn but the drum won't move.

Before it came of the RR it had done very little work and I know I have wired it up correctly (solenoids are still on the winch, not remotely mounted)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mick.

  4. Gent's,

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but search doesn't tell me the answer.

I've agreed to replace the rear cross member on a mate's (Diesel)90 at the weekend, the welding isn't an issue but I'm not sure what I should disconnect before I get the MIG out.

    ECU? Alternator? Anything else?

    Thanks,

    Mick.

  5. Hi all,

Could anybody tell me what the speed rating is for Insa Turbo Sahara tyres please?

I'm doing quite a lot of motorway driving at the moment and wondered if my tyres are safe at 70 MPH +

I've tried Google but can't find the answer.

While we are at it I also have a set of Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, what are they rated at?

    Cheers guys,

    Mick.

  6. Hi all,

Since buying my first defender I've been having a read and it would seem that general opinion says that the TD5 front axle isn't up to much?

My question is if I fit the 35" tyres I have taken off my broken RRC am I going to be emptying my wallet faster than I can top it up?

    Thanks,

    Mick.

  7. OME springs in stock positions, stock A-frame, HOFS cranked stock-length trailing arms, stock cast hockey sticks, stock bushes, long shocks. Incidentally, as per LR's stock setup it's unbalanced front-to-rear, articulation wise, but worked very well indeed.

You may also want to look at Nige's setup on his 90 - again using mostly off-the-shelf or bling-free parts, with minimum lift, and more articulation than many of the expensive kits.

It can all be worked out using engineering and Trev's spring calculator, you just need to cut through the bull and the bling.

    Thanks John.
