  1. To date the streering on the 110 has been rock solid.

I have been advised of slight wear evident in the N/S swivel hub but nothing I have noticed in the steering lately....

After a little "off-road" courtesy of Chris (GBMUD) on 30th I appear to have developed a wobble at no specified speed. It has appeared at 30 - 50, but usually after a little bump/rut/uneven edge of road.... The steering wheel shakes from side to side by several centimetres... It's controllable and stops if I grip the wheel firmly....

Is this likely to be further wear in the swivel hub ?

Or maybe the steering damper given up the ghost ?

Any suggestions / diagnosis options that I can investigate ?

    Thanks in advance....

    Neil

  2. Here are the pictures Rupert took yesterday....

I make no apologies for the number of pictures. :)

Hopefully these represent a great day for many people.....

Didn't take long to get most of Wiltshire off the car though....

A fantastic day, great luck with the weather and well organised.

    Well done Chris...

  3. Chris.. Excellent.... Excellent and bloody great fun too......

Your hard work was very evident. Excellent overlays, great clues, altogether it was a hit in my books.

Some of the water was a little deeper than I would have played with on my own, but since there were others having a go, who could say no !!!

Rupert was over the moon so I think it was big hit with him too....

Nice to meet some new faces and put names/faces to the messages.

Paul and Lorraine.. I do hope we weren't too boring or frightening, but thanks for putting your lives in our hands ! :) (They were our passengers for the day)

Thankfully Rupert did take some (not many) pictures. I will grab them off him tomorrow and post them on this thread.

If this is likely to be happening next year.. Book us up and we'll be there.... If you want to do a summer edition too, sign us up and we'll be there !!!

(Car gets a bloomin good clean tomorrow and see if there is anything that needs a tweak....)

    Neil

  4. Oh.. Got water pump replaced yesterday.. Don't tell me I'm going to need wipers too ! LOL

May have to have navigator on the bonnet swishing them back and forth or just calling directions back into the car ! :)

Inverter now out of battery box so hopefully that'll be ok for the day.... (note to self: Pack dingy and oars...)

(Or just head to the pub and blag the offroad stories...) :hysterical:

  5. Glad you ordered....

Saw this too late.. Company I've used successfully for camera stuff are Digital Depot...

    Your camera LINK

On offer for £139 includes 512MB card...

Hope all is well.... If not, you have an alternative...

I have no association with DD but would recommend their service to anyone.... Bought loads of Canon stuff from them over the years, plus 4 or 5 other cameras for gifts etc....

  6. Well thanks to Si up front.....

Great idea and what a difference.

Not being a fabricator as such I took the easy route and used some wood to clamp around the A Bars in the grill area and then clamped the lights to the wood.

Wired up to feed relays off the main beam feed and hey presto. (Have switches in dash to isolate too)

    See what you think...

    And finally... X-lites.....

I have two sets, one are spot and one set wide angle.

Go on.. Fit yourself some... You know you want to !!

  7. Just had a look Paul and I like the clean design format you have chosen.

Your Team page is a little wide for some screen resolutions.. Generally I format for 800x600 or make sure the text will wrap for lower resolutions.

Looking good... If I drive over do I get a discount ? ;)

(approx. 1,300 miles... So that's 100 or so tanks of fuel, three services, 18 breakdowns and two changes of socks...)

    Keep it up....

    Neil

  8. Merry Christmas to one and all in the forums...

Happy New year as well... (just in case I can't see to type at the New year...)

Thanks for all your help in the past few months... Quite clearly the best LR resource on the net....

  9. Nuge....

Wot you doing to the engine now ?

Thought it was actually running ok these days.... (Apart from the little misfire after giving it a serious dunking..)

(And when did you change your name ? Preferred Nige..)

    :hysterical:

  10. Can't you see I'm too embarrassed to show my face now... Hence Ralph doing all the posting ! ^_^

Have to admit I don't know how it happened, just sort of slipped left into a ditch !

Steve was a hero... Left a nice warm house to galavant along a lane after two nutters he'd only met an hour before !

    Can't thank him enough... :i-m_so_happy::i-m_so_happy::i-m_so_happy:

If a diagram will suffice we can probably manage that for you, but the exaggeration of angles and inclines will be in my favour.....

  11. No winch needed but some of the army training area will be muddy so best have a towrope and a good recovery point - just in case. ;)

    Chris

    [GULP]

Notes..... Ropes, recovery points, courage, clean pants....... (Mobile phone, Ralphs number, Ralphs other number....)

U recon these recovery points will suffice or do I go out and buy a big front bumper ?

  12. Hi Chris....

Coming across in the 110. Not raised or anything special. Will have MT's on and not worried about a few (more) scratches...

No winch so will be reliant on others if we get stuck ! ;)

Will have laptop/gps/memory map and friend as co-driver... Will also have some cameras to capture some of the event for all.....

    Looking forward to it...

(Steve, if you are going, want to go over in convoy ?)

  13. Ralph (Western) is heading eastwards over to the HERTS/CAMBS area for this weekend....

He's staying with us and we were wondering where to go for some open and useable lanes on Saturday 9th Dec.

Distance not too much of a problem... East Anglia is in striking distance or Bedford area etc.

    Any suggestions ?

And.... Anyone else care to join us or meet for a beer/tea/coffee and chat etc.?

We can either meet out somewhere if we are going to try some lanes together or even get a few of us together back at chez Freak Saturday sometime....

    (Date corrected)
