  1. Well I came across some pond sealant I use for emergencies. Great stuff, will even seal/cure under water and loves extreme conditions...

My sunroof now sealed level to the glass / black surround and this morning after a night of rain, it was dry !!!!

(Shame I still had a puddle in the drivers footwell mat from one of the other annoying little leaks....)

  2. We had rain last night....

Looked in this morning.. Pool of water.

Had a quick look this morning and door seal dry, hinge/door retainer dry....

I have a rubber footwell mat with lips/edges so it must be landing within the boundaries of the mat... It doesn't look like any water is running down from the pedal area.... It literally drips on the area just in front of the accelerator pedal. (Back towards driver)

Is that dash or bulkhead territory.. (I'll look tonight)

Could it be water running in the bonnet area in some way and running through a bulkhead seal on a cable and dropping down from behind/within the dash ?

(Or do those wires and such go up to bulkhead from engine bay ?)

  3. Thanks for your pointers there Callum.....

The water comes in while stationary and moving so I'll maybe whip the vents out one weekend soon and make sure I'm getting a good seal.. Maybe even the vaseline trick along the rubbers if I feel they may be the culprits....

I removed the carpets from the front some time back so it all dries pretty quick... (Also forgot to mention that I get a similar leak on the passenger side..)

I doubt I'll ever get to a Land Rover that doesn't leak, but it will be nice to know I've nailed it down to less than 5 key leak points at some point....

  4. Friend was nosing about under my bonnet earlier today looking around...

    Saw this

    Part.JPG

    (Connects to radiator top hose)

He's got a different hose connector which juts straight out (Without the nice curve to the right) and would love one of these...

He's got the same Edelbrock manifold etc.

Anyone kow where to get these and what they are called / part number ?

    Thanks in advance...

(Will anyone beat Western with this one?)

  5. Well done team.. I saw the first stupid post land in Defender forum around midnight.. Dropped a note to the mod and knew you would cover it...

If you want feedback, I'd go for the mod/admin approval which puts most spammers off but they will still try.

Most people will wait for a day to post no problem as long as they know what is happening and why in the joining instructions up front....

(Experience from another board I moderate on..)

  6. Mmm....

Pedal box replaced when restoring 110.... Door seals new, vent seals new (And look closed ok..)

Can't see anywhere obvious.. Will wait til next rain and lurk with torch.. I'm highly suspicious of the hinge / door strap mentioned above.... Hey ho.. No carpets anyways so why worry ! ;)

  7. I got condensation and leaks from my sunroof....

Cleaned the seals up last weekend and did the petroleum jelly trick.. Still leaks... Now contemplating silicon sealing and then roof replacement when I can find one !

Landmannn, why close those vents up at the back ??

  8. Where does it come from.....

I know it's a Land Rover and I should expect it to be wet inside when it's wet outside.... But....

Whenever it rains it drips down around the throttle pedal area...

Is it likely to be screen, bodywork join?

Where's the place to start looking?

(Or do I just wear waterproof shoes all the time?)

  9. When I bought my 110 the previous owner had covered the front grill to increase warmth in the cab for his good lady wife.... He'd used Checker plate with some nice holes drilled in it.. (52 mm each X 3...)

He had also replaced the radiator, thermostat and head gaskets on the V8 !!!

When it came to sorting the car out, I ended up replacing the old engine as it never ran smooth. I had no confidence in it long term and so had a re-engineered unit installed....

Now runs at temp fine, although a little warm when on tick-over for a long time or crawling through green lanes....

  10. Nice job...

I was at RAF Fairford for this years proceedings...

    Few shots here...

Still trying to find time to sift through the shots and put them online !

Also been to RAF Conningsby a few times. (Trip sponsored by Land Rover who supply the BBMF Land Rovers..) Last year they even let us into the Lancaster.. I have some great shots from most angles !

This year they took us around the Eurofighter (Typhoon) hanger and there were a number of areas the camera was banned... Open nose cones and cockpit... Quite an impressive plane though!
