  1. i wish i was in the same boat although mine seem to be quite waterproof, i havent had any issues anyway, even with the jetwash mine is a genuine csw, so cannot say about fit of the windows but those sh**ty felf seals are carp, i changed them 6 months ago, and now they need doin again...i was rattle free for about 4 months so ive been looking into better replacements such as these- http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-290-single-track.aspx http://www.automobiletrim.com/window-channel.html which should solve the problem ben
  2. thanks again, will crack on at weekend
  3. ta very much fridge freezer, thats perfect..if i wanted instead of wiring to the main beams, do this but substitute the main beam feed for the high beam feed (flash) and use the 3way switch in the same way (on/off/together with flash)..im guessing it would be a different wire to use (not blue/white)?? but this i feel would be a better setup for me thanks again
  4. hang on i think i get it just bear with me now so i wire up the lights exactly as i would if using a regular switch (not connected to any existing circuit)..ie relay earth (possible battery -), relay live from battery (+)(with in line fuse 30A?), relay live to lights (individual to each), and lights to earth (individual from each), and finally...relay switch (live from relay? and earth from wherever?) but to wire with the beams = relay----switch----tap into main beam live?? and i earth as before, or is this wrong? thanks ben
  5. thanks guys, right i am a complete novice with electrics, and got lost when coil was mentioned? anyway if i cant wire to the beams for legal reason i may just use a switch (hidden neatly) in the cab. i think i can handle that oh and i dnt have a rangey its a defender, i posted in the wrong forum by accident (its in defender forum too now) i think a grommet is gunna be the best way to enter then feed along, to the plastic trim where the seatbelt attaches and down into the seatbox to battery, and house and earth the relay in there.
  6. somehow i posted it in the range rover section first so ive posted again in its correct place
  7. i have nightmares about the noises my rear windows make
  8. ok so i've got the lightbar/lights fitted to my roof now but am having trouble deciding which route to go down with regards to the wires entering the cab from outside... any ideas, and installs that you lot have done would be a great help. i am thinking a grommet just above the gutter, but dont really want a hole in the roof if lights are removed in the future. also does anyone know how to wire directly onto the high/full beam switch as i have looked and cannot find info an this, the rest of the wiring am ok with..i think thanks alot..ben
  9. i will hunt down this fuse then, however i think i may wire them to the high beams(flash) in the same way, guess is exactly the same! basically so i blind the $**! outta oncoming traffic when i give way any idas on wiring entering the cab?
  10. are you guilty of that one then thanks errol just to save time where would that fuse be, in the under the seat or under the dash? and i'm guessing you mean wire the switch line from the relay onto this main beam line? using a connecter block or something similar? ta...ben

  14. using copper grease on the back and the edges of the pads has helped me before with clicking pads, although not experienced this on my landy...but it still may help you
  15. thats looking tidy mate..nice to see somethin so clean
  16. yeah its an aftermarket one, made by kbx..the quality of it is good too, its nice an sturdy and a good fit. haha thanks steveG..all to our own they do it in matt and gloss black and a couple shades of silver, i went for the matt black..i think it puts a modern twist on the front end..just hope it dosent get mistaken for a D3 now tho
  17. just thought id share with you guys some pics of my new grille..i am well pleased it and think it really sets off the front end..these pics where taken at the weekend at cowm quarry..cheers
  18. damn i wish i had a shotgun sometimes , good bit of kit is a pedal box cover, big thick steel plate that locks over and behind the pedals (ebay about 40quid if i remeber rightly) if they cant get to the pedals they got no chance...or better still a removable steering wheel..thats got to be the best deterent to a would be car theif..can you imagine the little ba!"*!ds face when hes drooling over the prospect of driving off in your beloved landy and realises theres no wheel lol
  19. i carry my air rifle in the landy, never had to point it another person yet and nor under most circumstance would i, but if that had of been me looking back at those pikeys on the other side of that river i'd have definatly been aiming at their heads
  20. although mines a td5 i had a similar problem.. the fan seemed like it was clipping something as it was rotating..and the clicking got worse the faster i travelled and the harder the fan worked, at tickover was very slight..and there was no loss of power...this eventually got worse and was very annoying it turned out the viscous fan unit had gone, there was loads of play in the unit and you could literally see it snaking as it rotated and i figure it was striking the aux belt as it span....a new viscous fan and the problem was solved and has been fine ever since if there is any play in the unit at all i would consider a new fan unit...hope this helps...ben
  21. hi guys passengers side lower/footwell heater blower is not working..all others are working fine..has anyone else had this and solved it?? cheers ben
  22. so with my defender being a '99 i now know i do not need the dec-cat pipe as i dont have one save myself some pennies will be going for the EGR porny you have a PM cheers
  23. cheers western some decent ideas there. crwoody- what brand was yours then, dont really fancy the wheel coming loose while driving lol looks like momo is a decent fit from what i read in the link
  24. dos the unit work (ie, radio) but dosent play cd's? if so the easiest way to eliminate problems would be to pull out the unit from the dash and see if everythings attached in the back, the disk changer will more than likely have one feed coming from the back of it to the back of the unit and possibly a seperate (or combined) on/off power supply from the unit..failing that the changer may be knackered..good luck
