  1. i reckon you drained it during the night or the sheep did!!
  2. Just watched the video again with sound this time! we were running out of Diesel up that particular gully hence me reving the engine to keep it alive. Think i should get some 2 way radio's!!
  3. I decided to do the trials special, i thought i would have enough grip on the grass but it was more like driving on ice! It's just one of those things, i should have looked at the other one first I did manage to get through the second gate once i built up some speed with 4 seconds to spare!
  4. Cool video! Its a really anoying when the rope keeps wraping round the drum the other way, Free spool drum definitly needed! Looks like fun Were there points awarded for driving along gullies on your door handles 'cos everyone seems to be at it in those photos Should have been! my doors dont look the same
  5. We had a great weekend despite a few problems! The site was brilliant, and the punches were well set out with plenty that made us think twice about doing them! We did have a little roll at the top of the hill on punch 18 that could have been quite nasty but luckily a tree broke the fall and Simon was quick enough to jump out the way before the truck rolled on top of him! Well done Mr Turner for 1st overall , I still got more punches than you ! If only I did the other special... Hope there are plenty of pic’s and YouTube video’s. Many thanks to the marshals and organisers for such a fantastic event. So who else rolled this weekend?
  6. Errr no! will be ready after a late night and a mornings work though! Ive not got a tent for the weekend, it got destroyed in the wind at the challenger event 2 weeks ago, ill be in the back of the disco again and if it gets cold atleast i can turn the heating on!
  7. Dont you like breathing dust!! I would take a second open face helmet too with goggles for the slower stuff, a full face helmet will restrict your vision, the co driver will be sweating buckets too! Truck looks cool, those wheels are a bit Bling, are they to blind the competition as you drive past
  8. I just took the stainless one of the front of my truck because im making something better and i was quite suprised to see that its showing signs of wear in the corners! If you got an Alloy fairlead take if off and check the back of it, the one i use on the back had some sharp edges from wear. it looked fine from the front.
  9. I think my truck would be overkill at a SLRC event!
  10. you dont need that many batteries!!! I use 2 optima 5.5 blue tops (same as yellow!) and 2x 100amp 12v alternators and i dont ever flatten my batteries using a gigglepin twinmotor top housing with +40 gears, XP motors and .70mm cable. The 12v system on my truck is very fast and reliable. However 24v through 12v motors is even faster and as Jim's proven its reliable, if Mr Turner put's 24v through his XP's you can probably guess what im going to do
  11. Im not sure, but they could be hummer drop boxes, they dont look anything like gen3's, volvos, or unimogs.
  12. So which Club is running challenge events in Sufolk? Might come along as its so close to home for a change!
  13. Im thinking small propane bottle, regulator, check valve, electronic solonoid valve conected to engine master kill, mecanical pressure switch operated by a second turbo waste gate actuator set at 13psi. Gas would only be used under full power and would not be wasted at tickover. The system has primary and secondary safety system that would hopefully meet the regulations set out by the MSA.
  14. I did have a Kenlowe on my truck, but that did not last long, there is nothing to stop the inside of the motor filling up with mud. The Pacet fans have waterproof motors which makes them more suitable for what we do. you can get them from demon tweeks or go direct to pacet. I did burn out one pacet fan motor but that was because it got jammed up with mud, i had not finished the ducting! like Simon said i got it replaced with no questions asked. As jim said the original viscus is the best way but not posible with a radiator in th footwell!
  15. Well it was a short weekend, the alternator would have been a easy fix but we were stuffed with no reverse gear. The winches did pull well with 24 through 12v until we ran out of power. Those QT dislocation/ relocation things are carp! there a good idea if you never take the truck offroad If the spring does not relocate properly it takes out the rear caliper brakelines! chances of that happening are high when driving through mud full of bits of tree! so the top 3 were...... 1.) Adrian and Richard 2.) Chris and Justin 3.) John and Carl not sure about the rest.
  16. Boggers will be fine , you trucks not that wide anyway
  17. I cant remember you saying there would be any double pointers at the start of the day. is it only a double pointer if only 1 car gets it? will you be doing more double point punches in wales?
  18. Was it a td5 with a hole in the ecu Hi Neil, Simon Wilkinson is co-driving for me for the rest of the year, could you amend the list please. I was thinking about the 40 punches again and guess that when you take into account travel time between punches, special stages break down's etc, its not going to be such an issue. What was the 100 point bonus for on our score for slab? The deep water is all part of the fun, however it was a bit cold for swimming at slab, next year ill take a wetsuit
  19. How many punches will be set out in wales? Just wondering because it can be a bit frustrating having to wait for a punch to become free with 40 trucks and 40 punches. Cant wait to get on to another new site
  20. Will be there friday afternoon to fill in the form, hopefully not too late. Simon is getting revenge after the horrendous cold conditions at Slab, by sticking me in the passenger seat! Adrian, The axles will be fine, im more worried about how much tread ill have left on my boggers after the weekend Did you find out why your TD5 was cutting out at slab?
  21. Yeah Yeah Grandad! Ive been training up for this one you know the best co-drivers are the drivers! Simon's truck will be shod with some bigger tyres than yours, so we will be making a few holes for you again!
  22. I bought my seats for £80 for the pair NEW , there really comfortable, there not waterproof but who care's your going to get wet anyway, they take a few days to dry after pressure washing them down, but at at that price so what!! When i was looking for a bucket seat i wanted something that would offer good support and not too deep so its easy to get in and out. Ive had them for a year now, used and abused them and they still look like new after a good pressure wash ebay they look like this.
  23. It would probably be fine with a 150amp 24v alternator and two deep cycle batteries, if Jim can use his setup all day using one 70 amp 24v alternator through 12v motors. However i can't really see the point in using 4 motors!, the twin is plenty fast enough, and if you stick 24v through 12v its balistic!
  24. So how bent is Alan's truck, it must have been quite a roll to break a few ribs!
