  1. Hi there,

Wondering if anyone is in 'the know' about the brackets a 110 td5 chassis.

I am trying to fit a 200tdi full length tub (not csw) to it at the moment and I cannot find out why there is a bracket on one side and not on the other. Please see circled pic. I cant seem to find this bracket on the old 200tdi chassis exploded diagram I have but I may have missed it.

If anyone could identify it and let me know if: I need this on there/need another one for the rhs/need to remove it, I would be very grateful.

Thanks to everyone for their help so far with my project. Photos are on there way :P

    Cheers,

    James

  2. Now that I'm ready to deal with this (11 months later than planned :) ), I'd just like to confirm that the valve is in the fitting on the tank and it's breather pipe is just clipped to the inside of the LH rear wheel arch looped 180 degrees with no further fittings.

    TIA

Hi sorry, same question really. I attach a picture of my td5 fuel tank. can you confirm that the breather on the lhs can be left alone or should I put a breather pipe on this and run it to the front?

    Cheers

  3. Hi all,

Yet another question on parts compatibility I'm afraid.

Was wondering if there was any difference between the 200TDI and TD5 110 fuel filler assembly (200tdi part I believe is NTC2676).

I have a td5 fuel tank fitted to my 200tdi 110 project. My rear tub is the original 200tdi tub. Having to get the whole she-bang (from tub to tank).

Would be grateful if someone would be able to verify if the TD5 parts can be used on a 200tdi tub.

Also will this mean I need custom pipes to connect up the TD5 tank and the 200tdi tub or has it stayed the same?

    Cheers,

    James

  4. Thanks for the responses guys - doors weren't fitted when I got the 110 - have taken on someone else's project.

From what people have said, if I have the td5 bulkhead then I want td5 hinges, no? And as I currently have no hinges or fixings then there shouldn't be any issue in compatibility as all new and door fixings are the same?

Thanks for the advice regarding fitting the tub. Time to get the rivets out then.

And I will start posting some pics soon. I have a fair few but at the moment they are too big and I will have to spend some time changing their size in GIMP or similar.

I don't have a large garage, which is incidentally now full of all the body panels, seat box, bonnet etc. so I have borrowed a party tent and it is now taking over the drive. :P

  5. Last new thread I create this week I promise. (Getting plenty to be going on with thanks to all the answers)

Been trying to sort out what I need to build my project 110.

I have county doors from a 200tdi and I have a td5 bulkhead - can anyone tell me what the difference is for door hinges? I've heard things about wing mirror mounts but is that all?

And do I need to do any modifications to the door/bulkhead to get them to match up. I have yet to get any hinges (something that didn't come with the project I have acquired) so if anyone knows what hinges I should use I would be most grateful.

Also my rear tub has a fair bit of electrolytic corrosion going on by the front mount points - the eight bolt holes at the front just under the rear bulkhead - does anyone know of a good way to strengthen this before I remount the tub? I was planning to just epoxy a length of aluminium strip to it before remounting to give me something to actually grip onto. However if I do this am I then going to mess up the spacing for the struts which run to the bulkhead (I think they attach to the same point - it's all a steep learning curve atm).

Thanks again to everyone who has been fielding my questions so knowledgeably and I am sorry there have been so many.

Thought I'd take on a 110 project and I'm only just discovering all the little bits and pieces I am having to think about and fix. Loving every minute of it though.

    Cheers,

    James

  6. Hey all,

So my project 110 came without a heater matrix and I have been looking around and was wondering what peoples views were of putting Eberspacher Water Heaters in with a bigger heater matrix?

Also if anyone has plumbed one of these in on a 200tdi or similar engine I would love to see some photos of it all mounted etc.

I was thinking along the lines of a Eberspacher D5WZ or similar.

Or do you think it better to go for the Eberspacher Air Heaters instead?

    Cheers,

    James

  7. I am planning on putting 90 van sides on so length should be correct. Thanks for the response, very promising, something is finally going my way :D

Next week I have the fun task of cleaning down the old 110 tub inside and out to get ready to put the brackets on. It's due to rain and it's out in the garden under a party tent :S

What we do for our landies eh?

  8. Thanks guys.

Is K&N really that bad? I thought they were supposed to be good?

Doesn't the 300tdi airbox mount onto the side of the engine? Or have I got that wrong?

Also I have read that trying to put the disco airbox in is a tight fit? Is this right - realise there is tons of space in a 200tdi though. :D

Sorry to keep pestering, new project and still finding my feet.

    Cheers,

    James

  9. Hi guys,

Sorry in advance for all the questions. I am busy trying to get together all the bits for my 110 project, it's going to be a bit different.

I am planning on putting a 90 roof on the 110 and am in the process of getting sides and roof, not wanting a CSW but want more than a single cab in terms of secure space, and I need a handy tub at the back.

I already have a second set of end capping and will be putting these on in the correct position (and fabricating some ali to finish off the back) in due course. The overall plan is to then cut a Defender door up and have it swing up like an old Series Cat Flap door.

Anyway, thats the plan. What i need to know is:

Can you put a defender td5 roof and sides on a 200tdi body? Also, are there any difference between the sides I need to know about? Also I have the windscreen surround but it's not on the truck yet. Does anyone know if there is a difference between a 200tdi and td5 windscreen as I am not sure what it is at the moment (picked up someone else's project)?

    Thanks in advance.

Promise to post some photos if this plan comes together :D

    Cheers,

    James

  10. Hi all,

I have a project 110 defender and the unfortunately the air assembly box, hoses and bracket are all missing. I have looked around and they have stopped making the bracket for the Air assembly box. Doh!

Does anyone know if there is a suitable replacement Air assembly I can use? I was wondering about a K&N Apollo CIS kit which they claim is universal. Does anyone have any ideas/ opinions on what I could use?

I can always knock up a new bracket - well get someone to make one for me, but just wondering if anyone knows of another system that I can drop in instead which will be less hassle?

    Thanks in advance,

    James

  11. Hi there,

I'm new to the forum so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I've had a defender 90 for 2 years now and had some great fun in it, and had some frustrating times at the side of the road when a UJ broke and it's overheated cos the rad is full of Core 4x4 mud (anyone else had the experience of driving a kiln home?)

Anyway now I want to go on a big overlanding expedition so, I've recently acquired a project 110 200tdi Defender, the engine has been stripped down and rebuilt.

However, missing some key parts to getting her going. The first I know is the bracket for the Air cleaner assembly - part number is ESR276. I have looked on Craddocks and LRSeries and both say that this part is no longer made. Does anyone know if there is a part no which superceeds this? Or how to go about making something up?

The second part I need is the pipe which goes from the breather cyclone to the air box, I've looked through the LHP27 CD I bought for the 200tdi engine but to no avail. Does anyone know the part number for this as I can't find it anywhere?

Also I have a mutilated filler cap on the transfer box and I can't get it out, tried a coal chisel and a hammer but that did not go well. Any suggestions on it's removal? And again, I'm going to need a new one - so a part number for this would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    James

  12. Hi all,

I have just bought a Defender 110 200tdi pick up (with no roof). I am interested on modifying it to put a 90 SW type back and a modified defender door that will swing up - giving me a large covered storage area as well as a bit of an external tub for throwing garden rubbish etc when going down the tip. Does anyone know if a Series 88' Safari Roof (the crazy dual skin ones) and sides, has the same width sides and roof as a Defender (not worried about the length). Also is there any difference in rear door width/shape? Also what about differences in side windows?

Would appreciate any insight into doing this as want to get it up and running and Series roofss and sides seem more abundant than 90 sides and roofs.

    Cheers,

    James
