they don't always have a ratio sticker on. Burnt mine off heating the box when trying trying to crack the filler cos previous owner had painted the box....

Retroanaconda, sounds awesome if you have all the fixings to go with it?
I'm Surrey (Dorking//Guildford) and Hampshire(Hayling Island/Portsmouth). Car is in Hayling Island, I work at Guildford and live in Dorking. So confused is my life...
I can take the A24 - A27 back to Hayling with very little difference in mileage, only more time in 90 which I can't really complain about
Where abouts in West Sussex are you, I pass through Horsham, Arundel and Chichester if I head back A24 route.

Does anyone know where I can get a cheap bonnet stay for a 200tdi, or how easy it is to make one up? I looked at paddocks/craddocks/lrseries etc and they want about £56 for the one on my current 90.
I was after another strong mod style one - think the part number is: ALR6225
Anyway, other than hunting through breakers does anyone know how difficult it would be to knock one up or what a suitable alternative is?
As a side note, If i were to do a full chequer plate on the bonnet would gas struts be able to cope with the weight or are they just going to cause issue? They seem like a nice idea but not sure if they will be more trouble than they are worth.

Thanks, for the info, I already had the manifold etc, it was how to run the one pipe from it I was interested in. Spoke to southdowns who suggested just running it up the back which I have duly done. Very nice snorkel and although an hour of swearing to cut it in I am very happy with the results.

Does anyone know if these are just gimmicks or actually do anything useful. Just found one in my 200tdi 90. Should I stick it in the 110 when it's up and running or leave it be?
Cheers,
James

Haven't bought the southdowns snorkel yet and I havent got the pipe from the back of the airbox. Trying to find out what I need. Will obviously be making it watertight and throwing silicone around it. On another note, I have gearbox, crankcase, diff, transferbox breather, overdrive breather and fuel tank breather, is there an easy way to get them up a snorkel? Or do I just tie them to the back of it?

The fact that main beam still works suggests that they are on a relay and separately fused.
are there additional fuses in the battery box? Follow the wires, they will as Andy said probably go into a relay which is triggered by the main beam switch. But it will also go to a bigger power feed, probably connected directly to the battery, I expect theres some inline fuses somewhere on the main feed line. But every landy is different....

What size for a 200tdi? Thanks for the link btw
-
so is 63mm the right size for a 200tdi airbox?
-
please ignore - southdowns snorkel comes with hose... Damn it i'm tired...
-
RTFM - sorry people I am tired
:
"The flexible hose on these units run directly from the base of the stainless pipe to your Air Filter Assembly eliminates several joints on standard pipe work that can fail, just when you don't need them too!!"

OK stupid question: does the southdowns kit come with the airbox to snorkel hose? http://www.southdown4x4.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=15&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

Does anyone know the diameter of this hose - really don't want to fork out £34ex vat for one...
-
Unfortunately I have the tub sides roof etc on now - the tank is well and truly buried. I can access it using the drop plate but i really want to avoid that as I will also need to run the line down as well under everything including seatbox floorpans etc :S

Thanks guys, I didn't fit the fuel lines and dont have any calipers to find out what's on there. Running the fuel line to the tank is not really an option, so I would be going into the braided hose just before the lift pump. Can I assume then that the line is 3/8? I found a pic of the line joining the lift pump from when I got her.
Does it seam reasonable to assume this is 3/8?

I'm working away from the vehicle for the week but does anyone else have braided fuel hose that can tell me what the likely size T piece I need is?
The tank is a Disco 200tdi I believe, at least that's the sender in it and it all goes into the front in a standard way. I will of course be taking the fuel out of the system for the eberspacher as early as possible so will only be on the sender not the return that I need the size for. Below is the only pic I have at present. Would these be 8mm as Orgasmic Farmer suggests?
-
OK, i have braded hose that i install and they look the same size. slightly worried now. But thanks for the answer

I am fitting an Eberspacher diesel heater to my project and I am trying to figure out which T piece I need to break into the fuel line. Does anyone know what the diameter of the fuel line is for a 200tdi Defender engine? Also I have braided fuel lines but I don't believe this should make a difference.
Thanks in advance,
James

Some hope there. I will have to wait and see this weekend - gonna fire her up with the new loom. - Time to see how many bits i've done wrong. I have gone from the 200tdi loom of 20 odd fuses to my new one with 45 fuses and the old 6 relays to some 16 relays. Might have gone a bit overboard here... Still it's based on a td5 loom with all the extras possible added

is the screen not laminated so it only goes in one way? If not I will cry as I spent an extra hour reversing mine in the rubber after nearly fitting it the wrong way round....

Hi there,
Just had a horrid thought after reading the thread on temp senders being different.
My project came with a Disco rear fuel tank and a 200tdi Sender installed - took me a while to figure that one out. Anyway, I am now at the point of wiring the senders into the dash - exciting stuff - and it dawned on me, do the fuel senders differ?
Will a PRC7129 fuel sender work correctly with the TD5 fuel guage? If not does anyone know how inaccurate it will be and if there is a tweak I can use to sort it?
Thanks in advance,
James

My friends came with two Numax and he hasn't had any issues from day one (3 yrs on and two cold winters - but we are southerners
).

I had a 70AH 650cca that died on me young. Splurged a couple of years back for Christmas and got an Odyessy PC1500. It isn't struggling at all to throw the engine over in the cold at the moment and in the summer it hardly touches the crank and the engine is going.
I think Devon4x4 recommend them as well (they have a section on them): http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=38241&category_id=96&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=14
They're expensive but I haven't looked back, thinking of getting a second for overlanding in the 110.
That's my opinion anyway after going through two batteries in the space of a year and a half the Odyessy has been amazing - especially as I only drive once every two weeks as well...

OK, thanks guys, sounds like I stick with what I've got. Cheers for all the info.
Seems like the 110 wins over Disco...
steering wheels and boss's

OK, reading up on thread here. I was planning on putting a detachable steering wheel on the 110 project. It's at the point where the wiring loom in the dash is about to go in. Do all the removable ones require me to take out the steering column, how secure are they without the weld? Can I do the weld in situ as theres nothing but the lower dash and electrics in the cab at present? Novice with removable steering wheels here - but I do need a nice small one as I am 6'3 and fat to boot![:P](//content.invisioncic.com/r226025/emoticons/default_tongue.png)
My 90 has a non removable (well 5 alan keys) 13" wheel and I have 2" off my gut atm.
