  1. Hey there,

Hhave been trying to sort out my alternator as well.

On page 206 of the above, I have now got parts 10 and 6 - link adjuster and the m8x95 bolt. However on my other 200tdi there is a metal spacer which sits behind the link adjuster on the m8x95 bolt but it's not shown in the manual - does anyone know if this means I have some weird setup on my 200tdi or is there a part number for this spacer.

It does seem as if it's something I need as currently the link adjuster sits in the wrong place.

    Cheers,

    James

  2. Hey chaps,

Tried looking through the manual and I can't for the life of me find the part number for the washers which sit round either side of the PAS pipe on the pump side.

There are two of them and unfortunately the current ones are falling to bits. It is a 200tdi PAS pump. Sorry for the vagueness of the description - away from the car and so can't do a picture either.

They are metal with a rubber seal on the inside and site on the bolt coming from the back of the PAS pump which sit on either side of the big ring.

    Thanks for your help.

    James

  3. Is there a difference in length between the prop-shaft bolts by the transmission drum brake and the rest of the bolts? The ones I have seem too short to be able to bolt on.

Can someone clarify what lengths are needed and also what the part numbers are please?

    Cheers,

    Jaems

  4. So I am trying to get my project 110 fuel filler hoses sorted. However having ordered an ntc2337 (http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/9161/NTC2337-MAIN-FUEL-FILLER-HOSE.html?search=NTC2337&page=1) I have gone to fit it and low and behold it seems that I don't have the correct hose (TD5 rear fuel tank - possibly a disco one, was fitted before I took the project on). :S So the hose doesn't fit. (It's a plastic tank so probably should have been a bit more careful when purchasing)

    So the question is:

Does anyone know the part number for the fuel filler hose that will fit a TD5 rear fuel tank (I think I need a hose which is the same diameter throughout and is the thinner of the two diameters on the ntc2337), and likewise the part number for the fuel breather hose which will work with a TD5 tank. Again, I just went and got the 110 part (543765) without thinking and whilst it fits to the filler, it's too narrow to go on the tank. Really confused as to what part numbers I need here and would be greatful for some help.

The filler I have is the standard Defender 110/90 fuel filler (ntc2676)

    Cheers,

    James

  5. Was planning to use the duralac, it's the modern equivalent of zinc chromate (not allowed it any more due to health and safety I believe - asked for it and got a funny look the other day). Puts a zinc layer between the two metals. But may as well belt and braces and do as you suggest and use ptfe on the bolt threads as well. Can never be sure that the duralac will completely coat...

  6. Hey guys, so I have the chassis stripped down pretty much at the moment - engine mounted but no bodywork.

What should I do re the inside of the chassis - it's an adopted project and the guy waxoyled the outside but not the inside. Was thinking perhaps fill it with expanding foam - but need to find something that water repellent not absorbent. Otherwise how on earth do you waxoyl the inside of the chassis?

    Cheers,

    James

  7. Hey guys, just jumping onto this thread with a quick question.

At the moment I have a standard lift, but plan on putting old man emu or similar +2 on when I can afford it.

I need to get propshafts for my project and was thinking of getting wide angle props.

Basically as I haven't got props at the moment would there be any issue with putting wide angle props on at this point or will they be too tight?

    Cheers,

    James

  8. wow need4speed you have gone to town.

On my rebuild at the moment I haven't been quite as meticulous. However I have got a tub of duralac which is supposed to create a barrier between the two different metals and stop the reaction. I am also painting any non ali metal up in hammerite wherever possible to try and reduce the contact. Also Using stainless steel nuts and bolts where I can, just to stop rust showing up. I'm going with diamond white so rust will show up like something crazy.

Hinges and missing brackets for my baby arrive this week so it's time to crack out the hammerite paint and then get bolting.

  9. Hi chaps,

So I am missing a couple of bits from the controlling arms from the remote to the transfer box for the difflock. Below is a picture of what I have at present and also a pic of the microfiche where the part is shown but not labelled.

In the workshop manual I can see the part on the top of the transfer box which is missing, but I can't find the part number in the exploded microfiche diagrams - it doesn't appear to be in there??

Would be eternally grateful if someone could tell me what the part number is for this.

    Thanks in advance.

    James

  10. Hi Chaps,

Have looked everywhere and I just can't find them listed. I am after the part number for the rubber squares which are riveted to the bottom of the rear tub on a 110 etc. Just about to fit my tub and noticed that there a couple missing. These are the pads which sit between the rear tub and chassis, that the tub sits on at each point. Been through the microfiche and can't find them listed anywhere.

Would be grateful if anyone could tell me the part number.

    Thanks,

    James

  11. Awesome responses thanks guys.

Western, do you happen to know which of the body mounting brackets I need, you say 2 inner and 4 outer, where do they all go. I thought there was only 4 in total. Sorry to be so dense but first project and also my first ever 110. Only had 90's before.

    Cheers,

    James

  12. Also on a side note, Can anyone help me regarding the rear brackets for mounting the tub. I have a 200tdi tub and a td5 chassis.

I would assume that the brackets for mounting the tub on the back of a 110 would be the same as those for a 90, certainly the tub appears to have the same holes to accept similar brackets. However the chassis holes do not seem to line up on the td5 chassis.

Does anyone know what brackets should be used for mounting a rear tub on a 110 pick up (200tdi tub to td5 chassis).

I have attached pics of the back, hopefully these are visible enough to see the disparity in mount points.

    Thanks in advance,

    James

  13. Hi guys,

So, I have just got round to trying to mount the tub after sanding it all down etc. As this is an adopted project there are a few bits and pieces I have been trying to identify. Having looked at the microfiche for the 110 and dug around on the interweb for a bit it seems that I have 110 CSW mounts, not 110 pick up mounts. Could be the reason why I can't for the life of me get the tub to line up properly....

Anyway, dug around and I'm fairly sure I need NRC7053 brackets, not what I assume are NRC5665 brackets. Can someone please confirm for me if my assumptions are correct and that I do indeed need to get 4xNRC7053?

Also just to check, the microfiche also says there are different mounts again for a chassis cab. Can anyone explain what a chassis cab is? Pretty sure I have a pick up but just to be on the safe side... (excuse my ignorance).

I currently have four of the brackets shown which I assume are the NRC5665 - can anyone confirm that these are indeed the CSW mounts?

    Thanks in advance,

    James

  14. Hey there,

I have put rock sliders with nerf bars on my 90 before now and that had bloody great big tubular bars which went to the chassis.

From the pic above the 110 rock sliders look very different to how I remember the 90 sliders. How do you attach the 110 rock sliders (looked at a thread on another forum - sorry, please don't hurt me), Fitting Rock Sliders to a 110, and they seem to say it's not plug and play, but swear, cry and despair.

Similarly to Bill, I have a 3 door 110 van (sort of), and so question is do you need to get different sliders depending on the no of doors? And where do the rock sliders mount (guessing chassis somewhere but some specifics would be great)?

Also, can anyone recommend a pair of rock sliders with nerf bars for a 3 door 110?

    Thanks again,

    James

  15. Hi All,

So busy trying to find all the bits I still need to get my project in to be sprayed up. seems that whilst I have the sill channels, I don't have the door sills. Question is:

Do I need to get the door sills from mm4x4 or similar (RTC6206) or can I just put a checker plate sill on and not bother with the sill itself?

    Thanks,

    James
