  1. Hi all Can anyone point me in the right direction to replace the receiver unit in a Disco TD5 (03) which is not responding to the key fob. I am led to believe it is in the roof space under the headlining but don't know where or if I have to take the whole thing out to get at it. I would also like to know if I need to have a dealer reintroduce it to the key fob following replacement. All advice welcome Hugh
  2. Hi all Anyone got any suggestions where I might get a good non water damaged interior fuse box for a 03 Disco 2. I believe the part no is YQE000251 03 04 Thanks Hugh
  3. I don't believe this............88 views and only one suggestion..............come on lads I don't want to be stranded
  4. I had a similar problem on my 98 TDI on 2 separate occasions. First time it was the ECU that was faulty. I got one online (ebay) and that sorted the problem. Second time it was the front drivers side wheel bearing. Hugh
  5. Hi all My 03 Td5 has started to act peculiarly on start up in recent times. Here is the problem. Occasionally when started the engine dies immediately. When I try restart it it just continues to turn over and over without firing. I have noticed on these occasions that the glow plug heater light is not illuminated on the dash board. If I get out of the car and lock it then reopen it with the key fob it starts most times. However at that stage sometimes the lovely M and S lights blink and I am confined to limp home mode. If I again lock the car and start it most times it starts normally. I am convinced that it is some electronic gizmo the controls the immobiliser or alarm system that is at fault but where to start looking I have no idea. All suggestions and comments welcome Thanks Hugh
  6. This might be of assistance http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=32377 Hugh
  7. I have a Disco 2 with 255/55 R18 on it at present. I need to replace them as they are getting old and 2 of them have bad walls. I normally had BFG AT's on my Disco 1 but they do not appear to make them for this size wheel. I can get General Grabber AT's but don't know anything of them other then the thread looks shallow by comparison to the BFG thread. I spend most of my time on road but will be off road as well. The type of off road driving will be Greenlane and forest tracks only. No real mud at all. Anyhow what I am looking for is a suggestion as to what tyres you gurus think I might go for. Does anyone know the what size of the nearest BFG AT that would fit the rim? Hugh
  8. I have had my td5 refuse to start occasionaly in much the same way and for no apparent reason. My cure to date has been to exit the vehicle and lock it with the fob. Wait a few minutes and then unlock it with fob. To date this has resolved the problem. It migh be worth a try.

  10. Hi Guys Recently my electric mirror stoped taking corrections and on examination I noticed that the little white bit from the motor to the glass had broken. What do I need to fix it? Can i get a new white bit or do I have to buy a whole new motor assembly? Hugh
  11. The symptoms you are describing happen occasionally on my TD5 for no apparent reason. I have presumed the problem was a intermittent fault on the immobiliser I get out of the car turn on the alarm/ lock it using the key fob and then reopen it and usually it starts first time. However sometimes it fires and runs with the S & M lights flashing. If i repeat the procedure they then go out Might be worth a try Hugh
  12. Thanks Bog Monster..........that explains why I can not find any online.
  13. Hi Guys Anyone know where I might buy a nudge bar for a 2003 td5? Hugh
  14. Thanks Ian but is there any way of overcoming this reluctance to change up? Hugh
  15. I have a lovely new (to me) TD5 Auto. It is going fine but a little sluggish when started. Anyway I have decided to keep it and I am now thinking of fixing the faults that are in it. So i will start with a few Questions and hopefully you might be in a position to short circuit searching Is there any reliable way of fixing the heating element in the rear window demister How much trouble is there in replacing the window itself (DIY style) Is there any know faults with heated seats.....where should I start to to get it working again (not a fuse problem) Same question in relation to the electric mirror on the off side (not a fuse problem) And again where might I start my checks to get my headlight washers working again (not a fuse problem) How do i get my 2005 TD5 (auto) to change up to 4th earlier than 3 miles into the journey (I guess it is something to do with the heat of the gearbox) Right that will do to start Hugh
  16. Just to update everyone. I replaced my accelerator pedal today and had it re introduced to the ECU (computer dating is alive and well). I have driven it for a over 100 miles and not even a hesitation. Hopefully all sorted now. BTW I confirmed the problem in my own mind by driving with cruise control engaged.....no problems but they reoccurred the minute I disengaged it Thanks for all the suggestions Hugh Now to sort the heated seat.............
  17. As a matter of curiosity would it happen if the economy mode was selected on the heater? Hugh
  18. Hi all I have been doing some off roading recently and my Disco 2 behaved very nicely. However i did notice that it jumped out of low range on 2 occasions. It worked as designed when I was accelerating or powering it but when I let it idle / resumed power it jumped into neutral. Any idea why and what it might take it to fix? Is holding it in gear an option or will it gradually get worse? Thanks Hugh
  19. Hi all Can you tell me if the part no LR 030567 is the only pedal that will work in a 2003 automatic TD5? I have been offered part no SAB 101 390 from a breakers yard. Any suggestions or information please? Hugh
  20. Thank you Bog Monster and Mr V8. I did get such occurances a few weeks ago but put that down to a faulty battery that has since been replaced and apparently resolved the issue. If i do have to change the pedal and sender unit what is involved? Is it as straightforward as taking one out and putting a new one in? Hardly..............
  21. Problem solved ???? I brought my Disco to the independent LR specialist I use and he promptly told me within a minute that the problem was the drivers accelerator not sending the correct signal to the engine. He tested the pump and the injectors along with a few other items. He reset the accelerator sender unit and I now driven about 70 miles with only 2 or 3 hiccups. That tells me he is right in his assessment but unfortunately i will probably have to replace the unit in the near future. Does anyhow know what is involved? How likely is it to cut out fully in the middle of a journey? I have no doubt it will not be simple task and I will probably have to give it to someone with the necessary computer to sort out. Hugh
  22. Right I am putting it on a Computer tomorrow.. I will let you know the outcome (before I sell it) Hugh
  23. Having read the replies and listened to the advice I decided to renew the Injector loom. I ordered it from Alive Tuning an it was delivered as promised almost immediately. The job took no more than 1 and 1/2 hours from start to finish including clean up, I did take a lot of time trying to get the rocker cover on so maybe there is a trick in that. Anyhow the car is now going much smoother and quicker. Overall it appears to be much more responsive but unfortunately it is still missing intermittently and for no reason. I have driven over 50 miles since I renewed the loom and it appears to go very well for ages then misses a few times. Any suggestions as to what might be causing it ???????????? Hugh
