  1. Some pics of how I made mine all those years ago. Metal pipe is aluminium drain pipe. Plastic joints are 70mm marley pipe and the rubber bits are cut from a 70mm ID generic gates 90 degree hose. The snorkel top was hand made from thin steel plate...

  4. I bought a Clarke SE16C150 yesterday from machine mart to replace an old compressor I had and was surprised when I got home to find it had no plug and required a 30 amp plug not a domestic 3 pin affair, something I hadn’t thought of and it wasn’t mentioned by the guys in the shop when they loaded it into the disco for me!

I run my barn off a generator, does anyone know if a conventional 3 pin plug will do?

as long as your generator will power it then no problem, 3 pin plug will be fine, i got a 4hp 150 litre tank sip compressor running off my house electrics, no problem

  5. we have one of the clarke cir24 cordless impact wrenches i think it was about 85 quid does the job not the best but i think it was worth the money, chris.

Brought a snap-on one, fantasic bit of kit to keep in the back of the disco, well worth the money.

  6. how i understand it, working at an mot station, the area that has been replaced must be welded in, if plated seam welded, or complete panel to manufactors orignal stands, you only need to replace the floor if it is within 30cm of a strucal point, either body mounting points or seat belt mounting points

  7. Thx for reply- it has been sat on his driveway- he has been away with work hence not used. Did sling a can of diesel in it but could be water or simialr i guess! No smoke (well no more than you expect from a diesel) Had it up to temp- drove down our private lane and just the same. Did crack off each inj pipe and all 4 have a similar anount of fuel coming out and produced same result in sound etc. No signs of coolant/overheat probs- I guess compression test is nect then!

I would do compression test, at least then you know its ok or not. also had the same problems on the merc vans, early sprinter, the customer would leave it parked up with no fuel in it, then try using it and ran very ruff. the out come was the pump was seizing up due to not having fuel in it keeping it lubed up, the advance shaft would seize, or the bob weights . but you did get 200rpm in the rev range were it ran ok, just a thought

  9. Going on

The fuel pump was sounding like a strangled cat, so have fitted a new one of those, and still no better, but at least runs quite now !!!

Check the pressure reg, and no leaks

But still, loads of smoke when provoked, and engine rattle ???

    hello mate

i would get it plugged in and checked for fault codes,

if your around the dorset area, give me a pm and i will plug it in for you

  10. done some flidding today at work, cleaned the stepper motor, still the same, when checking over the engine i lent on the breather pipe and it went down to 700-800 rpm, so i took the breather out cleaned it checked the pipe work for leaks and blockages. all ok, refitted still the same, had the engine running and pulled the breather off at the inlet mainfold and there was a oily mist coming from the breather, so i thought maybe piston rings, done compression test, all ok. sat down had a think about it, and it came to be so simple, why didnt i think of this before, the flipping air filter was blocked and the engine was sucking air from the engine breather system, sucking an oily mist making it rev higher. new filter, plugs, oil filter and oil and its running lovey, ive put a new body rear cross member in today aswell, just the inner wing to patch up and in for an mot, then she will be on the road,

  11. You can't, all you can set is the base idle. The engine management looks after the tick over. get you self a Haynes manual and setting the base idle is explaned in there, it's easy to do.

Also check the adjustment of the accelerator cable and the by-pass air valve at the rear of the plenum chamber, again easy stuff and it's all explaned in the manual.

    And WELCOME to the Forum

Thanks TeaBag, will go get one. im a diesel tech for mercedes, so shouldn,t be a prob,

    thanks
