  1. Many thanks for your comments of the door issue, I will try as you suggest. As to the issue of moderators I am not suggesting that mods are there to leap on any news post 24/7 I am just puzzled as to the length of time to come out of pre-mod. I was only posting at that hour as I clearly not running an organised life as I am on call this weekend. Many thanks to the people that have come back re my door and the other threads I have read on other issues. Happy new year all.
  2. ps I have to say moderators I am getting rather bored with how long it takes for my post to go up, I am a mod for a stationary engine site and it tkaes nowhere near this long, does it make any difference if I pay??? I was going to wait until I was out of moderation, i can't post at all in technical stuff. BORED Now. I am not selling viagra or porn.
  3. Well not overwhelmed with answers but thanks anyway seems it is not going to go away, one of the joys of landy driving I guess.
  4. did you check that there where certainly off and that they where not frozen to the screen. That will blow you fuses quicker than gordy brown will flog our gold cheap.
  5. Well i think it is sloped back slightly to stop things sliding off forwards?? I use the the two cup holders at the front for coffee cups (other beverages are available) then I put my 'phone on top of box in a woolly hat so it does not slide off under the seat which is most anonyning.
  6. Now worried! I dug out my V5 last night and under the revenue weight it is 2400kg, this is on a 54 td5 90 hardtop. This is normal then as you don't present your V5 at MOT would they know even with new computerised MOT system? I guess as with all these things it is up to the owner/driver to check? Knowing how impossibly slow DVLA are I don't envy anyone who has to try and change one. Amusing DVLA story, my sister in law is a GP, she had a letter from DVLA about a patient to do a 'age related fit to drive check' having not seen the patient for years as clearly healthy the person duly arrived for their medical, on checking the notes the driver had been registered blind for 15 years, no one had told DVLA! they could see to a limited extend. -don't worry they are no longer on the road.
  7. Spoke to my mate he replaced the relay (pinkish) as described now above and proplem solved, well he had it replaced he does nothing on his own vehicle so probably main dealer job. Sorry not much help.
  8. I get very confused with td5 fuel filters mine has no sensor on the bottom only the white plastic screw in bleed screw (that breaks if you look at in a funny way) I broke one when changing it at my inlaws on a sunday and was left vehicle less as they were out all I could take home (ten miles)was an elderly tractor. Everytime I see an article about a fuel filter everyone talks about the sensor wire and its fitting. I tend to change mine every 10,000 bit anal about fuel filters to be honest.
  9. A friend of mine had a simalar problem on his 05 td5, no spots but the side light main beam issue. I will ring and check with him but he found a major damp issue and with current weather that would not be a suprise wherever you are in the UK. I am new on here this may take a while to appear I will ring him now. I certainly remember him going on about the bleep noise.
  10. I would suggest as someone wrote earlier they are one offs made by man 'in shed' on production line. That is what I saw at the JCB production lines (although granted these are not VIN plates in the V5 sense) I would think you would struggle to get a blank, that would open up a whole can of worms for 'cloning' if you pick VIN plates up willy nilly so to speak?
  11. Thank you! It does seem to be worse in the winter suggesting hardening of seals etc. the strike plate is rock solid I did wonder if this might have moved but it appears ok. It is just very anoyning. I have used a lot of WD40, the fitter at work always knows where to find his latest can!
  12. Having once put the wipers on when frozen to the screen and found the fuse blows I always carry spare fuses, LR wipers stick to the screen much more than other wipers (I find any way) Wife has Audi and sister in law who stays often has a VW and they can all be parked in a row and their wipers will go first time while I am out there de-icing, odd because surface area in those cars blades is much greater? But you say in the opening post that it is not the fuse?
  13. Hi Newly registered here but have been browsing and picking up tips for a while-thank you I have a 54 td5 hardtop, all goes well except the drivers door catch rarely shuts first time especially in colder weather. I have greased/WD40 it inside out. Sometimes it shuts ok then when driving along it 'pops' open my right leg/knee tends to lean on it when driving sometimes. It does not fly open just 'pops' on to the catch. Anyone else has this problem please? The passenger door has always been fine but does get used a lot less.
