  1. As part of a TD5 job lot I have a fuel tank with carcass 90 written on it. I assume this is for a TD5 90 defender. Are the 90 and 110 TD5 fuel tanks the same? Cheers...Al
  2. Hi Alan Getting there slowly! This bell housing is like rocking horse s**t I did wonder about the manual one, then thought it can't be any good as it would have the hole for the slave cylinder.? I'll give Ashcroft a ring later and see what they say. Cheers....Al
  3. Yes mate. And a lot of breakers as well. All have complete boxes for £600+, but then I would need the compushift from Ashcroft to run it for another £750 odd. Too pricey for me.
  4. That's a shame - I was getting all hopeful of finding one then! I have a 300tdi auto, but need a TD5 auto bellhousing to mate the 300tdi auto upto the TD5 engine. Thanks anyway. Al.
  5. Hi Phil Sound interesting. Where abouts are you? On the TD5 engine I bought there is a clutch and the ring gear, maybe we can swap? Did you mean he has the bell housing or the whole auto gearbox? Cheers....Al
  6. I have been trying to track down a TD5 bell housing to fit onto a Zf auto out of a 300tdi disco, so i can mate it a TD5 engine. Didn't think it would be so difficult.... Anyone got one spare, or have any ideas where to find one? I don't really want to buy a complete Disco 2 auto box just for a bell housing. Cheers.
  7. I would second that - better than helicoils for spark plug threads.
  8. There was no radio/head unit in the Disco when I bought it 3 weeks ago. I had a spare Sony head unit in the garage so fitted that. Radio works fine.
  9. If you are passing Woking at any stage, you can have the one I pulled out. Not planning on using it at all.
  10. The amp part number is AMR5117. Google this number and you will see some photos. Cheers.
  11. I found it in the end! It was on the passenger side behind a panel on the side. Took it right out and bypassed the wires. Speakers all working but not much bass to them. I do not have the sub-woofer on the rear door as it is a Jap import. Thanks.
  12. I am having trouble locating the amplifier. Does anyone have a picture or able to direct me? I have had a look on the passenger side but can't see anything that might be an amp. My disco is a series 1 jap import. Thanks.
  13. Ok,thanks.I will have a look there. Cheers.
  14. I have been trying to wire up a radio but the wiring colours are all strange. I have managed to get power to the head unit using standard connectors, but the speaker wires do not make sense. I did manage to get sound out at one stage, but without any earth wires connected?? The attached picture shows the wiring. The grey block plugs into the block from the radio and powers up fine, also retains the memory. The gree/grey/purple and white wires are the speaker +ve wires from radio, and these connected to a yellow, red, gree and blue wires whioch gave some sound but not very good. I connected the four black wires (which go into one) to the speaker -ve wires from the radio and now i get no sound. The speaker wire colours are nothing like the manual colours - anyone else got a jap import that can help with advice on the wiring? Cheers....Al
  15. That is unbelievable bad timing mate, seeing as I just bought your other one!
  16. I am the new owner of a Disco 1 3.9v8 auto. It currently has a 2" lift using ome springs and procomp shocks and Cooper STT 31x10.5 The steering is like driving a shopping trolley I have read about off set radius arm bushes, cranked radius arms etc which can then lead to prop shaft vibes, so I am conidering putting the suspension back to standard, but not sure if the wheels and tyres will fit. Can anyone confirm yea or nea for me? Cheers...Al p.s. anyone want to swap standard height springs and shocks for my 2" ones?
  17. Some measurements and close up photos aswell would be great if you can. Cheers Al
  18. Now that would tick all the boxes. Could you let me know what's involved in this. I've sent you a pm as well. Cheers....Al
  19. That would be ace if it can be done. I will have to make some enquiries with my engineering friends.
  20. I have been searching the old posts, but only seen center seat area shifters. If you find a link to the post please let me know. You are right I am a tree surgeon, but don't see why this should rule out an auto box. I don't actually do much off road work, but the 130 is damn handy when I do, but i do go in and out of London a fair bit. I probably should have mentioned that there will be a 3.5 or 3.9 efi V8 on the other end
  21. I have a 130 chassis cab with a tipping body, and also 3 seats in the cab. I don't really want to lose the middle seat and was wondering if there are other places to site the shifter for the planned auto conversion. Pics would be nice - I like piccies
