  1. I'm looking at replacing my works van with a Disco 3 or more likely 4 commercial. Has anybody owned or used either? I'm after opinions about it's practicality in daily commercial use. Defender isn't really an option due to the amount of motorway miles I do so I've been looking at the Disco commercials. Mainly after realworld fuel consumption, how useful is the loadspace etc. and does the trim survive commercial use? As in the boot door trim etc. or does it get rough pretty quickly? Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks
  2. Thanks a lot for the pictures. Looks really straightforward. I'll get it done in the next batch of work I'm doing on it. Cheers
  3. Thanks for the replies, sutty, I was thinking exactly that after looking at the link mocha put up. Pictures would be great, thanks. Cheers
  4. I've seen a few side exit exhausts in pictures on here. Can someone recommend a supplier? It's for a 300td, just the back section losing the silencer would be ok. Thanks
  5. I second the above. Having owned both 3 door and 5 door 5 seat discos, the 5 door is just much more passenger friendly. The seats in the 3 door really don't leave a lot of room to get in folded forward. Also for those times you need to move something big with the rear seats folded flat, the 3 door is a pain in the a@@e to load. Those rear doors on the 5 door make it so much easier.
  6. Right, so is that +11mm over standard disco rims? Thanks
  7. So.... The outside edge of the wheel is going to end up in almost the same place using wolf rims as the standard disco rims sit, give or take a mil or so. Thats good for me. Thanks for helping me get my head round this.
  8. Excellent, thanks for the replies. So they are greater offset than the standard steel rims then? As in the wheels sit further "out" on the axle. So, and I'm completely guessing here, they are probably a little wider than the standard disco steels or alloys. Anyone know? Basically I'm looking at putting a set on my disco but don't want the offset of steel modulars but I do want the same or a bit more than than the standard disco rims. Thanks EDIT edited to answer my own question. After some more research, disco steel rims are 33 offset so if I've got my head around this offset thing the wolf rims should have a slightly wider track. Can an adult confirm this for me please. Thanks
  9. As the title says, does anybody know the offset for genuine wolf rims? I've searched on here and online, here turned up one thread but no answer and a general web search gave me a lot of differing answers. Surely they are all the same? No? Thanks
  10. Better late than never. A belated happy xmas to you all and have a great new year tomorrow.
  11. I've found some really good deals on Fox 2.0 emulsion shocks, mounting issues aside, has anyone used them or had any experience with them? I'm talking about the non-remote res version. The 10" travel model works out around the same open and closed lengths as most more common +5" shocks, with mounting taken into consideration. On paper at least it seems like a great option. I've tried searching this forum and the net in general but can't find much LR related information. Any thoughts welcomed. Thanks
  12. Dare I say it, how about a paj or imported challenger (row shogun sport)
  13. Forget my last post, I'm getting the disco back tomorrow so I can do it myself. Very happy!
  14. As the title says. Can anyone with a disco 1 commercial or access to one measure the loadspace for me? Length back door to bulkhead, height and width. Mines in the garage getting it's head sorted, but I really need to know the loadspace size rather urgently. Thanks
  15. Check the alternator. I had the exact same symptoms on my old V8 disco. Earths were all good, cleaned them all up and renewed the main earth strap. Made it go away for a week or two, then whilst driving at night on country lanes every time I switched to full beam and back to dip the speedo and rev counter shot down then back up. I stopped and got a multimeter across the battery and the alt was doing nothing, being efi it cut out soon after. Got a new alternator, fitted it and everything was back to normal. If you do need an alt check ebay, several sellers supply genuine and lucas ones at a fraction of the dealers price. HTH
