  1. Don't want to preach or teach granny to suck eggs, but please keep to the track. We went towards end of feb and there are a number of 'extra' tracks entering the stream/river early, leaving late etc .. a couple, obviously marked with red/white tape, ripped down and driven over. I guess it wouldn't take much more for TRO's to get served ... and with good reason.
  2. When I fitted HD springs the easiest way I found was to use Axle stands as suggested, then for the front use the Disco bottle jack between the chassis and axle to spread the axle down a bit, being careful not to pull the brake lines too much. At the rear the axle fell far enough that a screwdriver levered the springs out (and HD's back in) quite easily. If you're replacing the dampers too, don't bother trying to unbolt them at the front, just angle grinder the shaft and they fall apart ..
  3. Nice one ... I use a gazebo sometimes ...
  4. I didn't bother, just used the carpet and a rubber mat on top. Barely notice any difference in sound levels.
  5. Not necessarily all down to splines .. play at the wheel is from cvjoint, halfshaft, diff pinion/crown, UJ's, transfer input, transfer to gearbox etc ... more than one connection, and all wear eventually!
  6. That could easily be a source of the vibration then .. and any other connections in the drive train with even minimal play in them will only add to it ..
  7. Last CV joint in my Disco had no rotational play at all. Did it click or tap on full lock?
  8. I run 31 x 10.5 R15 BFG AT's on 8j rims on a standard Disco for 2 years and now with HD springs. The rear arches could have done with being cut, but they're just being grazed really. It doesn't need as big a cut as many people do either. Lock stops and front end all fine needing no mods, though I have cut the bumper endcaps down simply to stop then getting ripped off when off-roading/green-laning.
  9. Work in progress ...

  10. Could be the bush or just above it, the bias plate/springs.
  11. BFG AT's 31 x 10.5 R15 on 8j rims Cost £400+ but sold my last set on ebay for £250 so pretty cheap overall ...
  12. Heheheh, yeah, Manby show '98. Followed a lifted Defender up a hill, but had to take a small run at it ... the 5' drop onto ruts the other side, with front wheels still airborne did the business!! All lights came on, horn blaring, engine still running but all electricals going haywire, which continued when I turned the key off. Turned on again, and after a few seconds all seemed to reset and back to normal .. Happy day .. Saved my steering rods and 'stuff' so IMHO well worth the £30 off ebay ..
  13. Hi, I'm new to LR4x4 but not to Landrovers. I'm also known on Landyzone as Paul D. I drive a Disco 300 Tdi 3 door '96/'97 with a few minor mods, snorkel, HD springs, steering and diff guards, and a few other bits and bobs. Really into green-laning, occasional Pay 'n Play, but not much and occasional RTV trials, which I want to get back into again .. Married, two kids, eldest going to Uni this year. Go caravanning a lot, spent New year behind a pub in 4-6" of snow in the caravan .. Most recent laning trip was in February over Strata Florida way, still some snow left, but notalot, so no issues getting through! Must admit to joining the forum on mostly selfish ideals, my sills are less than they should be and I've already accesssed a mine of info off here (and off Landyzone) but feel I might put something back too. Cheers ..
