  1. The only thing I can think of is running some weld along the sided of the key way, use a grinder and dremel to clean up the key way. Would be a right pain of a job but if you can get a good edge to the key way I would think it would last but key would need to be tight or it will just wear and come out again.

  2. To be honest I would not trust most if them, Ralf's one looks the most robust one I have seen but could not justify that price. I have seen quite a lot of home made efforts that look stronger than the shop jobs.

  3. A friend of mine said that is going to become illegal to tow using a strap or rope and if I was going to do so I would need to buy a Tow Pole.

Is this true and if so what tow pole would you recommend – sprung or un-sprung.

Weight rating ------- any advice welcome.

  4. If its new send it back and have it replaced as they should be free to turn, Dont think they will come apart as they are swaged on. The only thing I can think of is to sit it in a tub of engine oil over night and see if that helps, or stick a battery drill on the shaft and see if it free's off.

  5. Still waiting on oil seal but I did remove the old one today and it was ripped, When I took the timing cover off I noticed that my new belt is running against the timing cover, I know it was all the way on the pulley when fitted and my tensioner's are new.

Is there anything I need to check before I fit the new seal (when it arrives) all pulleys feel OK.

When I did it the first time I do notice that the original belt had been doing the same thing.

  6. Thanks for all the help, just about what I was doing, high gear - brake on and chocked the front wheels. Any sizes of the tool would help as I could knock one up, the amount of time I have spent in the engine bay in the last month is unbelievable and may be at it again in the morning if my new crank shaft seal turns up. Hope after that I will be clear for a good while but the tool would still be handy. When ye need one ye need one.
