  1. I replaced the seal on the input shaft on my 1988 RRC with one from Zeus Engineering. This is a machined part with o-rings inside and out to provide the seal. These bear on a different place on the shaft and so avoid this problem. It was about £23 incl VAT & P&P but easy to fit and has done a great job of fixing my leak - it's 100% dry now and hads been for months. here is the page http://www.zeus.uk.com/land-rover.php Pete
  2. My 1988 3.5EFI sometimes has a slipping power steering belt and it's the power steering pump pulley which in turn drives the alternator belt - causes the same symptoms as you have. Pete
  3. I think this is usually caused by stickiness in the ignition switch - try graphite lock lube. Do NOT use WD40 because that will attract dirt. Pete
  4. I used these people for a lambda for my Subaru Impreza - www.lambdapower.co.uk IIRC £90 for a Bosch part, same as the original unit, instead of £160 for one from a Subaru dealer. Fast service too, and options to take a chance on a 'cheapy' unit without connector plugs, though I would avoid the bottom-end priced ones. Mine unscrewed easily enough (on a 10 year-old exhaust). Pete
  5. They only work with the headlights on? Pete
  6. The Rangie is fine.......... change the wife Pete
  7. I don't have a P38, but on my Subaru Impreza a faulty Tracker resulted in a drain of 330mA which would flatten the battery in 7 days. Normal drain on most cars should be <50mA. 560mA shouldn't flatten a healthy battery in hours, so it could be that the cells have been damaged. Pete
  8. My RRC sometimes jumps out of low range when I go off-roading, but only if the low range knob is not pushed fully forward. To avoid trouble, once I get the car moving in low range I keep pressure on the knob (oooh err missus) until I am sure that it is fully engaged. Pete
  9. Manufacturers' websites might give the answers? Pete
  10. I don't know about 72s, but 86 onwards had these tools......... Pete
  11. Here's mine - and you can see where the bolt through the bracket has torn out a chunk of the flange at the bottom of the wing. Pete
  12. Haha - I have just been out and taken a pic of the bracket on my 1988 4 door but it's the same as item 8 on the diagram - it bolts through the flange on the bottom of the wing. Pete
