  1. It's back down at the garage now, so I'll make sutre they check those things. It's also had brand new clutch slave and master cylinders (all top quality Lucas/TRW parts) when the clutch was fitted, along with new clutch pipe etc. I'll give all the ideas a go and fingers crossed it'll be a cheap fix. Cheers Guys
  2. Hi all I'm after a bit of advice. I purchased my 1991 Defender 90 2.5td a few months ago, and a month or so in the clutch fork went, so I purchased a Valeo OEM Heavy Duty clutch from mailorder4x4.com. It's been on for about a month, and on the way back from dropping a stranded friend off about 20 miles from home, it started slipping in higher revs. It was absolutely fine setting off, and for the first about 1500rpm (roughly as it has no rev gauge) it was fine aswel, but anything more and the engine would just rev as the clutch slipped. I could coast at about 30 in 5th and the engine just revs and doesn't go anywhere. The clutch was about £100 delivered, and then £200 to be fitted by a local Land Rover specialist. I had a whole new clutch inc release bearing; the cover plate and the friction plate and clutch fork etc. Obv if the clutch is nackered mailorder4x4.com will just replace it as it is warrantied for 2 years, but will it just be the case of having to fork out £200 again in labour costs to have it fitted? I thought by fitting a heavy duty it would of been a fit & forget jobby, especially at £300. Any advice would be much appreciated, especially if anyone else has had the same experience. Cheers Toby
  3. I'd strongly suggest getting rid of this. They are very unreliable in my experience.
  4. i currently have a radio fitted which i use (although it only works through one speaker...) i'll do some measuring up when i get one, but i'm not sure that two cut off switches would fit in the mud pod, along with all of the other instruments. when i install a pair of uprated batteries inside the cab (where the rear bench should be), i may mount the cut off switches on one of the roll cage tubes close by. or possibly in a box mounted to the floor.
  5. i think i've decided on a mud pod. not the cheapest, but looks very neat. it's for a '91 v8. i'm looking to install: water temp gauge oil pressure gauge possibly an ammeter diff locker control swith winch control switch winch cut off switch battery cut off switch i'll try to remember to post pics when done!
  6. cheers for the link & info sutty. i tried a search but must have been entering the wrong thing.
  7. Looking into where and how I can improve my '91 disco dashboard for mounting of switches and gauges etc. Has anybody got any pictures of how or where they've mounted switch & gauge panels? Anybody gone as far as making a custom ally dash? cheers.
  8. wow, nice work dave. will it work with megajolt too?
  9. I'm with NFU and they seem to love pickup's! Because they class them as 'light goods vehicle', my insurance was nearly half of that of a hard top! It's worth giving them a go, but I think they only insure in certain postcodes if I remember correctly...I may be wrong. I haven't mentioned my mods yet, but with previous cars I've had, they're not bothered about 'lowered or lifted suspension'...I just acted like I didn't know anything
  10. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells full window seal kits and door seal kits? My 90 truck cab is being re sprayed so it will be a bare shell, so i need all seals. Is it a case of sourcing all the seals individually? Any help would be much appreciated Toby
