  1. Not at all Steve, that's more the kind of advice I'm after, thanks. I'm looking at fitting a LR 4.6 or possibly 4.5 or 5.0 TVR engine. More likely I'll end up with a 4.6 I think. If an r380 is up to the job and much more straight forward fitment, then that sounds OK to me. I'm upgrading every other part of my drivetrain, so think the old lt77 will get the boot too. I think I'll speak to Ashcrofts about a 380 when the time comes. Many thanks for the info.
  2. is this the same as the gwyn lewis one? does anybody know if it'll fit a disco 1 with sumo bars & damper relocation (i.e. pin to pin steering damper)? thanks.
  3. We've got a 55 plate Range Rover Sport Supercharged. You know you want one
  4. Strength & reliability. I'm going to be upgrading my engine next year so could do with more confidence in my gearbox.
  5. Yes, that may be true. To be honest, I think that's the least of my worries though, I may have problems such as different length bellhousings etc... Surely it's possible though?
  6. take a look at moose's 101" defender for the rear wheel position. I have pretty much knocked this idea on the head, as although it is very possible, there looks to be a fair amount of chassis mods needed to achieve what I want. I think extending the wheelbase on a 90 SW and mount the engine as far back as possible would be a better project for me.
  7. 2" lift with extended arches (think they're 50mm). 285/75/16 BFG Muds. 16x8" low offset modulars.
  8. Anybody? Are lt85's the same length as lt77's? Anybody got an 85 in their disco?
  9. I haven't tried it with the bulb out no...I'll give it a go though. It has had a burnt out in when I first got the car. The glow plug wiring between the glows and behind the clocks burnt out, I had that replaced. What do you think is the cheapest/fastest fix? Like I said, I don't need/want a reverse light...as to be honest it's barely visible during the day anyway! Could I just get an auto electrician to block the reverse light feed off, remove it on the gearbox, and bob the wipers on a different fuse?
  10. Hi All Recently, my Defender 90 has been blowing fuses a lot on the wiper/reverse fuse. I got an auto electrician round to have a look, and he mentioned how the reverse light has a constant live going to it, and the cars had a previous burn out in the past, so it could be shorting it somewhere. I've tried bigger fuses, more than twice the recommended and it still blows it easily. I'm not bothered about having a reverse light...but I really need my wipers! This may be a silly question...as I'm useless with electrics, but would it be possible to sack the whole reverse light wire off...and put the wipers on a different feed? Any help would be much appreciated, as the chap I got round said the whole dash will need to come out to fix it, which in this weather I don't really want! Cheers
  11. Sorry, MOT legal. I was thinking of doing something similar, although not as extreme for my discovery. Although, it would allow similar tyre coverage to a tubular defender wing set up. Example below. I assume this style bumper & amount of tyre coverage is ok?
  12. Great, thanks for the info. I'll contact Fuel Parts to see where my local stockist is. I have a landi renzo system with omvl r90. I assume my lambda is purely for the lpg also, as it's a hotwire range rover engine. Is your lambda in the y-piece? Mine is in one of the manifolds before the y-piece. Thanks Fridge. I'll try and get some numbers of my sensor and google it to see if it brings up anything. I'll take it to the shop when I get a new one too.
  13. I assume it's a narrowband type. Hmm, thanks for that, I'll check all connections. I have ordered a software kit for the system, so I will see if that can analyse the problem. Thanks for the help.
  14. Hi, Does anybody know what parts are needed to convert LT77 to LT85? My car is a '91 v8 fitted with a '92 range rover 3.9 EFi engine. Thanks.
  15. I have a closed loop LPG system on my disco. After doing a spot of wading recently, it ran extremely rough on gas & wanted to stall. I have temporarily fitted a power valve in place of the lambda feedback stepper motor. My question is, are there any lambda sensors available which don't mind being dunked in cold water? thanks.
  16. Hi, Does anybody know if the following kind of front bumper & wing set up is uk road legal? Many thanks.
  17. Si, I may not have explained it properly. I want to keep the length of the 90 body and keep the 100" wheelbase of the disco 1 chassis. The end result (looks wise) would be similar to fitting extended rear a frame, radius arms, moving shock & spring mounts back on a defender 90. I have seen bits of it yes, my friend also has the set. But I think you may have misunderstood, that's not exactly what I want to do, read above. The dvd is useful to see how the defender body is mounted on a rrc/disco chassis, but i'm not shortening a 110 tub. Hi Marc, Road & off-road use. I have previous experiences of SVA testing, so that shouldn't be a problem. A slight obstacle yes. As I understand it, as I would be using all parts from the disco apart from the body, I could retain the reg etc from the disco. However, I think I'll need a bill of sale for the defender body. One thing I need to investigate is, that my disco doesn't have it's factory 3.5 v8 fitted, it has a 3.9 efi from a rrc, but I have a bill of sale for this. Thanks.
  18. Hi, Has anybody mounted a LR 90 body onto a disco or rrc 100" chassis? If so, any pictures? I assume that the fuel tank would need to be moved, rear end would need cutting down, part of 90 rear cross member etc. Obviously the rear arch would need cutting horizontally to the end of the body (similar to some challenge trucks. I've tried searching but couldn't find anything (apologies if there's already a thread about it). Thanks.
  19. As said, ring up. Great products and service in my experience.
  20. Hi all I think my Tmax EW9500 is on its last legs, so I'm looking for a new winch. Only a cheapish one for the event in which myself/mate gets stuck. AFter browsing the Bay, I came across a company called 'winch-it' who sold what looked like decent quality winches. Does anybody have any experience with them? Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260704327214&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_7470wt_907 Cheers Toby
  21. Hi all! A month or so back, when at a quarry day, I needed to recover a mate from a very deep lake he decided to attempt...and failed. SO I freespooled the winch out, pulled him in, everything was fine. Once I unhooked, I tried returning the winch room in, but the solenoids started clicking, so I was forced to wrap the rope around my bumper about 30 times! A month on I finally decide to get some new solenoids ("allbright equivielnt" I know! They're a cheap rip off, but it was half the price). I wired the new solenoid in, relocated the earth to the battery, and what's still there? CLICK CLICK. I'm absolutely baffled now, I've re wired it and re wired it and still Mr clicky won't bugger off! Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers Toby
  22. Hi all Problem now solved! The clutch kit was absolutely fine, apparently something on needed backing off (couldn't understand what the chap said, strong yorkshire accent ) Cars running spot on now, just need to fit my spots and new winch solenoid, then off we go. Cheers for the advice guys Toby
