  1. You may still be able to send the tapes. If you check with Amozon.com you maybe able to order the tape already in the proper format. The more popular shows are available in both and even i've heard of Thomas the Tank Engine. Mind you....when I tried to get the "Dalesman's Diaries" we had to settle with what we were given and have it translated. As for 8 tracks..ahhaahhah. My kid brother drives tractor trailer from southern Ontario down into the eastern states during the week. The only way to visit with him was to take a road tour for a few days and then you have captive audience. After driving with him for a few hours I equired as to why he didn't use his CB radio when he was driving through the states. His reply was simple. He looked at me with a disgusted face, said nothing and then turned the unit on. After about 15 minutes of listening to people opening their mouths to prove they were idiots, racist carp, etc I ask him to shut it off. There were few words exchanged between us on the subject. 8 tracks.....hahahhahhahahhahha cheers,Bill
  2. You can get a video cassette recorder that plays both formats now but you will pay about $600 cdn as opposed to $200. The dual ones aren't that popular here as good old US of A has control of our market....not to mention over 4 billion dollars of softwood money they won't give back.... ;-) cheers,Bill
  3. For some stupid reason Videos that can be viewed in outside NA cannot be viewed in NA. Why you would want to make a system that would be universal who knows....that would be far too easy. So if you bought a video tape from england odds are it won't work on you Northamerican machine. It it's on a dvd you can get the translations software to view on you computer. LONG LIVE STUPIDITY!!!! cheers Bill You need NTFS for north america and PALS formats for UK...I think.
  4. They tried to teach that lesson to me too....But I got a bigger hammer! cheers,Bill
  5. And this ladies and gentleman concludes our training program for our tour on the Denison Ice Road. Any questions???? LOL Cheers,Bill
  6. Okay...that makes more sense. Learn something new everyday eh!?!? And here I was still use to digging slip trenches.....Dad always did say I did things the hard way..... ;-) cheers,Bill
  7. Your visiting the 50 states will be entertaining to say the least. Some of them you will be able to cover 4or 5 ina day. Alaska....The Alaska highway runs about 2 hours east of the Brule Lake area. Mind you there are a few choices for working your way up there. Doing it all of road is theoretcially doable but going to be tough once you get into some the spruce bogs. Alaska is nice but don't forget the Northwest Terretories, Nunavat and the Yukon. Lot's of nothing to see up there too. Hope you have a great trip....there is so much here to see I think you best plan for a year. Hell...Write a tour book about it when you're done! As for geocaching.....lots of those over here too......Just bring your laptop. cheers,Bill
  8. Okay...I have to ask the dumb question now. I've seen something similar (but much more simplistic) for snow anchors (for climbing) but I've never really seen one of these types of anchors. I assume that it works on the same idea (when you pull on it it digs itself deeper into the ground)....But my question is: How do you get it out of the ground once you have finished using it? Okay....bring on the remarks..ahahahahhhah cheers, bill
  9. Thanks for that Jim.....much better explanation. cheers, bill
  10. Hey Gerry...this you??? If you want to post a pic you have to have the pic on a website already.....there are some photo sites that will let you post through them. Or....if you are with shaw you are intitled to a bit of space for a personal web. Does that help or is it clear as mud???? cheers,Bill When you post a note or make reply you will see some options at the top of the screen that will help you.
  11. must have been pretty bad it the images won't even come up..ahahhahahhahahhah cheers, bill
  12. Here it is...hope you enjoy it as much as I did. ;-) My Webpage cheers,Bill
  13. well welcome home!!! At least to one of them. What part of King Ralph's Fifedom do you hide your LR???? I hang my hat in the Edmonton area and the resident guru on all things land rover and old is Chris over at Chris automotive. He's a displaced greek who's been hanging his hat here for the past 35 years or so but he knows the old landys better then most. Also got a lot of sources for parts too. Look forward to seeing you about. cheers,Bill
  14. Okay...I get it. I was doing that but I ran into arguments with the reduced size jpgs being converted to another format and my free webpage space being gobbled up so I went with generalised notes instead. But one day when I'm rich and not too famous I'll spring for some more space and go wild..... ;-) cheers,Bill
  15. I'm not sure I follow that one..... cheers,Bill
