  1. disconnect the stalk from the loom bu unplugging it and repeat the test, it will tell you if the problem is in the stalk, using all your knowledge and memory, try to disconnect apprpriate plugs along he circuit, and repeat the test, this will narrow down where the fault is! the problem in my experience is in the most awkward place! so convince yourself that the wiper stalk is the worst case before starting! lol
  2. if you have the time and patience i would replace them all, as you say if one has gone!..
  3. test your theorey using a multi meter or basic circuit tester first, saves fuses and frustration! If you believe it to be the stalk, disconnect the plug and re test! your idea about a bared wire is IMHO the most likely case to your issue! Good luck hunting it down!
  4. Simple is best. Less to go wrong, easier to do right in the first place
  5. http://www.autosparks.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=5062 Just found one of these I would like to state i am not affiliated to this company in any way, other than being a customer and found them to be great!
  6. You could try something along this line (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/BMW-Z3-Power-Distribution-Board-Poss-Kit-Car-Application-/300904019748?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item460f46f724) there are many ways to skin a cat as there are also many ways of doing what you ask. For a neat solution just search for car power distribution or words of that nature. Or you could Bus the inputs of your fuse box (with appropriate cable) which is to say join them all into one thick input!
  7. dodgy, But i like the style! i would imagine insuring it would be eventful!
  8. @FridgeFreezer, if you could dig the photo's out that would be great, @western thank you for your knowledge. dont suppose you would knock up a spare set? lol thank you guys.
  9. Fantastic! thank you! you mentioned box or u section, dont suppose you know what measurements off hand?
  10. Thank you for the rapid reply. Pardon the possible silly question, But can they be riveted on? (the B and C) Does it have to be welded? Just thinking that i can pop rivet, Can not yet weld! Does a rivet not have the same contact area as a spot weld!
  11. Good morning all, I am after some collective help, Being new to this forum I fully expect some ribbing for not searching, however i have searched for as many variations of sill, channel and csw as i can think of to find an answer. Awaiting the reply of one simple link. But without further beating about the bush. As is the way with 110 CSW's my sill Channel which holds the B post and C post running from bulkead to the tub needs replacing, one side needs a chunk of the C post sorting too. and B posts are looking tatty! I am soon to buy a welder and will be learning as i go, so welding skill is rubish at the moment. Is there a nice CHEAP solution for replacing these? I have seen them complete per side for Approx 350 before tax and posting. Or via YRM i can get the bits to fix together links to the parts below Link to sill Channel Link to B Post Link to C Post Are these even the correct parts? Currently working in the desert so can not eyeball and check. the total for one each per side is 281, cheaper! but is there a way sheaper still? I await the obvious answers that will have me slapping my head with the inevitable 'why did i not think of that?' feeling. Thank you in advance.
  12. Hi, I am new to this forum, so as is polite an normal etiquette, thought i would introduce myself. My nam is Gareth, i am 27 and welsh. A member of the RAF and have owned a few land rovers, settled at the mo with a 110 19j called Chubby, and have a 109 2a petrol called Beast. Dont mock to much about the names, I have a wife and a son, That should explain it to those in similar situations. Both need a new chassis. the 2a needeing a lot more aswell. My aims are to learn to weld, and repair/ replace my way to 2 nice working models. I do not aim for prestine versions, the purists would cry at some of the things i have done in the past. but i am a firm believer that so long as it is safe, and puts a smile on my face, why not! the main problems i face regarding landrovers are the same as everone else, Time, I am in the Air force. Money, I own a landy we are all in the same boat. Land rover doors............ Need i say more And People who think they can take what they want from others. ( my 110 was a rolling resto until someone decided to hang off the doors and break them before stealing lots of stuff.) Any way, enough for now! When I can i shall try to post some pictures
