i've used Britpart bits in the past (the main culprit in the world of carp parts) i had a water pump that lasted 11 days, and various oil seals that were so poor that we couldn't even get them to fit.
I still use paddocks (although their carp customer service annoys me) but i don't know how they have the nerve to sell some of the garbage the stock...
I'd buy an indicator lense from Britpart, but little else..
I tend to buy the genuine or OEM stuff from paddocks (usually made by delphi or lucas) and never had any problems..
use the cheap stuff at your peril, because it WILL come back to bite you...
Kinda of glad i didnt buy that britpart water pump of ebay today i must admit the £21 price tag looked to cheep

well, I don't even have a gps (yet)
maybe a short roadbook description? I'll buy the detailed (1:25000?) maps of the region, so greenlanes should be indicated
sorry i wont have time to do that tonight there is quiet a bit of information involved and flicking from the forum to memory map,

Hi,
We are thinking of spending saturday (tomorrow) in the Peaks. Just checking out the place for future hikes and mtb tours. Anyway, it would be nice if we could do a little bit of (soft) greenlaning.
Any nice and easy lanes there?
What sort of area are you looking at i have recorded some of my routes do you have memory map? if so i could email you them.

A small fan on the intercooler will improve the efficiency of it's cooling when moving slowly off-road when there's barely any air flowing through it.

Fair comment Mo think i will fit it see how it goes

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Suspend-NERC/#detail
Apologies if this has been posted before, a long standing petition - April 2008 - perhaps a bit long but gone from 58 to 115 in 24 hrs.
The petition is :
"This section of the act extinguished motor vehicle rights from "restricted byways". The effect has been to close half the rights of way previously open to motor vehicles.
Motor vehicles may now only use "byways open to all traffic", only 2% of all rights of way. Many of these are effectively closed to motor vehicles as they are classed as restricted byways for part their length. Motor vehicles, therefore, can use substantially less than the 4,500km of rights of way quoted by the government.
Rather than reduce the potential for conflict of use, noise nuisance or damage, the act may have the opposite effect as it concentrates recreational vehicle use on a smaller number of rights of way.
Early commencement of the legislation has left many rights of way incorrectly recorded and led to the loss of motor vehicle rights over many historic routes. Suspending Section 6 would allow highways authorities, user groups and individuals to apply to reclassify these as "byways open to all traffic", ensuring that their status is correctly recorded. "

Hi All,
I have just been instructed by my old man to clear his double garage so he can at least get a car in it,I have been using this as on of my many storage facillities for some years now, And come across a electric fan 320 mm x 320mm and was thinking about instailing it between the grill and the intercooler ofset to one side of the main viscous to aid cooling during towing,
the questions are
1, is it worth it?
2,will it just get in the way of the air flow thus reducing it?
£, just put it on eblag and hope for a tenner?

That's my plan too
Thanks for help

I have to say, this is turning in to a bit of a PR disaster for X-Eng.
I've had a load of emails accusing me of hijacking the thing and dominating the shirts with X-Eng logos - essentially mirroring Fridge Freezers and other peoples posts. That was really not my intention, however, the cost of this is high in X-Eng budget terms and the only way I can justify it as a company expense is to get advertising exposure from it.
If it would make people happier, scrub any mention of X-Eng. I'll print my own shirts for Billing and make a private contribution to Jez.
Si
That would be a shame realy as i personaly think you have done a great thing, Its good to see a buisness giving something back for a change and yes you should have youre name on the thing

Great get it printed and sent out cant wait for mine

I am also in the sefton park area just up the hill student halls of residences until June. I would be up for a bit of laning or off road sites after exams as i haven't done any up here yet. Just use many cunning ideas to put people off, both visual and immobilsing/hidden. As it is off streat parking is it possible to put a security post up behind the land rover at night? i know this will not be possible if you don't own the land.
Cheers
Jon
Get youreself to Brierfield quary on sunday the 6 of may

Hi Thomas and welcome,
I'm also just over the water (Mersey) to you on the Wirral. Sadly there are no
decent lanes locally although we are pretty central to the Lakes, Wales and
Derbyshire/Peaks where there are plenty.
Briercliffe as mentioned by Rob is not to far (near Blackburn) is reasonable site
although it is responsible for killing my gearbox
but that was due to
over zealous snatching of reverse on a failed ascent and popping the selector
fork out of place.
Depends what you want, pay-as-you-go-playday of lanes. All are handy enough
if you set aside a day or two.
I've info on a few Wales lanes and would welcome an opportunity to sample
some of the Derbs ones.
I have some good knowlage of derbs, wales and the lakes if you fancy a day out let me know
The lakes is my favourate although it would be a long day it still doable in a day
Failing that i can email you the routes i do if you have memory map

Hi,
I just moved to the UK (Liverpool, to be more specific) this week, from Belgium. I own a UK registered LR 110 (a 1984 HT with 300tdi engine).
Now, there are quite a few things that are different in here compared to Belgium, so any information would be welcome.
E.g.:
- are there any nice greenlanes in the Liverpool area? I know the Lakes and Wales are brilliant, but that would be at least a weekend trip.
- to get some more serieus jobs done, I would be looking at a good (and affordable...) independent LR garage. Any suggestions?
- good place to get your MoT? Preferably with free retest (you never know with a landy...)?
well, anything that could be of interest, really
thanks a lot
Thomas

I have my ticket for Glastonbury 2007, after the stand invasion last time I'm thinking of upping the game a bit and maybe handing out flyers, sticking stickers on their gear or ???.
So, looking for ideas:
- What would you put on a flyer / sticker / t-shirt to annoy GreenPeace / make people think twice (and not offend the general public / come across as prejudiced as they are)
- Any other ideas that can be executed from a tent-based enterprise in a field full of hippies without being thrown off site / arrested? (at £200 a ticket I'm not wasting it on that lot)
Bonus points for comedy value and the winner(s) are promised that whatever I/we do we'll try and bring back some good photos/video if we can
If you get any stickers or t-shirts printed are you going to sell any? If so please let me know as i will defenatly order some of you
Cheers
