evening, what are the differances with the bulkhead outriggers on a airportable, compared to a standard series 3 chassis ? cheers...

evening, having decieded to start work on rebuilding the airportable, the chassis is the fist item to be sorted, i have ordered a military 1/2 chassis, but whilst chatting to a fellow landrover owner, he thought that there was a differance with the Front Legs and Crossmember Assembly (repair section) he seems to think that the repair section differs for the airportable than the standard non miliary series 3 swb, in that the profiles are differant and thicker ? can anybody shed any light on this subject before i order said part. the front chassis legs on my chassis are knackered,and the front crossmember needs attention, so thought i would be easier to replace as a whole unit. paddocks have the part mentioned, but no specific mention of military fitment. cheers...

evening, the two relays you refer to are the horn relay and the stop light relay, the one nearest the engine is the horn relay. this information is for a 24volt series 3 petrol airportable. if the relay nearest the engine is broken, then i assume the horn wouldnt work ? cheers...

evening, dont think there is a specific headlamp relay for a 24 volt system.. maybe its the infa-red headlamp relay part number you need ? cheers...

hello, the usual suspects should have the mil bumpers in stock, paddocks,craddocks,dingocroft etc, expect to pay around £60 for one.. cheers...

hello, i have asked this question some time ago,but here goes... does anybody know where i can purchase a set from ? i contacted paddocks who used to sell them, but dont anymore ! Grrr.. i dont wont the wolf ones, as the heads are differant although, i have a britpart number (da4406), but thats for a complete kit, at around £60 but i only require the mirror arms cheers...

hello, what exactly is your defination of " wolf doors " ? i bought new series 3 door bottoms,and fitted the early 90/110/military ally door tops. i then fitted the normal lift up handle lock, and slam striker, some people prefer the anti burst locks and striker. i chose the series type slam striker simply because i was always hooking myself on the normal defender striker, which sticks out. cheers...

hello, after a couple of weeks of trying to get some information, i have the defender atu mounting kit part number : RTC5948 Dingocroft could supply one for around £60, on contacting somebody differant at craddocks, they assure me that they DO actually have them in stock, and are supposed to be sending me one ! if it dosnt arrive next week, i shall have them off you, providing you still have them ! i will post a reply next week. thanks for all the replys and help. cheers...

hello jim, the part numbers i have are as follows: PRC 3761 nut plate x2 RRC 3763 support angle x2 RRC 3764 gusset support x1 RRC 3216 mounting bracket A.T.U R/H RRC 3740 reinforcement A.T.U R/H i think there are also a couple of other bits and peices, to complete the mounting kit, but the above should be most of what i need...hopefully :-) cheers...

hello ralph, i emailed him,via the email address you sent me, but had no reply as yet. i have managed to find some part numbers, but not to sure whether the units will fit my ATU, as they are pre defender. i am 90% sure they will but just need some confirmation, then comes the job of aquiring some :-) Cheers...

hello, having found out that the ATU mounts within the cable box on the front wings of ffr landrovers, does anybody have any part numbers ? cheers...

hello, does anybody have a close up picture of the ATU mounting kits ? Craddocks had them advertised on their website, but on contacting them, they havnt got any ! my ATU came with a single bolt that goes through the wing and connects to the bottom of the case, but far to flimsy it would seem. maybe the little boxes i have seen on the front wings on various defenders/xd's are where the atu sits bolted through ? cheers...

hello, i fitted an electric fan to my defender, the donor vehicle was a 1.9 citreon turbo, it has two fans fitted on a large radiator. i simply fitted a seperate switch to turn it on and off when needed, but apart from pulling up the pyrenees fully loaded in august,i havnt really used it. i cant comment on how hot the airportable will get, as most of mine is in peices strewn around the garage ! cheers...

hello, well, i checked out the vin website, and it is indeed a petrol engine, so everything checks out. now all i need are a few simple items..chassis..bulkhead, doors..etc etc ! thanks for the info. cheers...

hello, i have just purchased another land rover, this time a series 3 109. however on the log book its classed as a " motor caravan " is this normal, it also states thats its a historic vehicle, it has 12 seats so i am presuming its a station wagon ? it has a 2286 petrol engine in it, but i was told that they originally had diesel engines fitted ? the year of manufactor is 1972 and its tax exempt. can anybody help with the above points ? cheers...

hello, could somebody tell me what parts i need to equip the defender with a wing mounted military whip aerial ? i know there is a box that the aerial mounts to, but dont know what its called etc, any part numbers would be helpful, and approx cost for a complete setup ( minus the radio bit !) cheers...
