  1. bril, have seen a set of blistein but...they are standard shocks with "raised height springs" whats that all about? will that lift the truck etc
  2. I was thinking of purchasing the Terrafirma medium rated.suspension kit, what do you think? also there seems to be many adverised.with 2 inch lift can these be fitted without altering anything else? i would rather keep it at the standard height do not think i can afford koni ta
  3. hi I have started to look into renewing my shocks and springs the question is ...which ones are the best for around 300 spondooleys. dont want lift the truck or load it up too much. decarbon, terrafirma help us out before I get the wrong set
  4. Hi there, my steering seems to be pretty acurate now, albeit i have adjusted the steering box to the max. Had to renew my exhaust back box and silencer recently. Got myself an OEM steering damper to fit this should only improve the steering. Still not fully confident at high speeds 60 mph but that just may be me, btw talking about speed i was on the motorway the other day and saw a couple of defenders batting along at 70 mph plus, mine gets to around 60 max before i get a bit flustered what max speed should you get out of a 200tdi 90? Thanks for all your help
  5. Quick update, I measured the tracking which was toe out, I have adjusted and it seems better however have not given it a full road test as the battery went flat today so going to fit an Anderson plug set up tomorrow. Will give it a blast and let you know, may have been the tracking all along..
  6. Brill many thanks will get to it this week sometime and post the results, final piece of the jigsaw..
  7. Good point whats the best way to check the tracking, Garage or DIY? May sound silly but kwik Fit somewhere like that.
  8. Ta, I have renewed the panhard bushes and recently (last week) renewed the A fram ball joint the A frame ball joint renewal on its own seemed to make a dramatic improvement. I think i will have to take her for a long run to fully examine the steering performance, the steering wheel input is certainly improved. Before I did not have the confidence to get her over 57ish mph before it became a handfull, will get her on the motorway soon to see what happens and keep you posted.
  9. Hi , I have just renewed my track rod end ball joints, drag link ball joint, steer uj's, drop arm complete with new steer box. The steering has improved dramatically. Easier to steer, returning to centre, more responsive but... I am not sure if I have lost confidence in the steering as I am waiting to deceareate in anticapation of the dreaded sway. I have even adjusted up an eigth of a turn the new steer box (should you have to adjust these when new?). The steering has improved but I am just not sure what a landy steering is when normal, any ideas?
  10. Well fitted the new A frame ball joint and it seems to have improved the steer wander, need to do a proper check tho what do you think could the play in the a frame joint have caused unresponsive poor steering?
  11. Took the a frame ball joint off got my mucker to pess it out, we have pressed it back on.... but it did not really sit flush, the base plate will not sit home fully flush with the casting 1mm gap in places. Have moved on and will fit over the weekend, will keep you posted. Track rod ends next then steering unit I do hope this sorts the wandering steering out ta Harry
  12. Would you use ebay track rod ends or stick to genuine landy parts? The ones on flea bay are cheap enough but I am unsure about the quality. Also thinking of changing the a frame ball joint and unsure wether to get this of ebay. I cannot really afford genuine parts at the mo ta
  13. Thanks live in Manchester BTW. I am going to buy an A frame ball joint and renew the track rod ends, I have seen them quite cheap on ebay. Have you any experience of aftermarket parts such as these and could you tell me where you think best value to buy from ta
  14. Hi, I have read quite a few forums on this procedure but before I started I wanted to make 100% sure it can be done without the need to jack or put on axle stands. Can it be undone and removed in situ without the need to block etc. Ta
  15. Hi, my roof leaks on one side when the landy is pointing engine up hill. The water accumulates around the rear of the truck in a sort of recess at the bottom of the roof where it meets the side panel and runs onto my shoulder when I brake or level out. Has anyone got a cross sectional diagram / picture or the mating surfaces of roof and side panel so I can picture the set up and not just apply sealant willy nilly? Also any tips? I have tried to seal but just cannot figure it out where it is coming from had a hose pipe on it for ages but found no leaks...it rains and it leaks aaaaaarggh. Ta
  16. 91 and yes its the original box. Turning the steering from side to side is not lumpy. Thanks for your replies looks like I get myself a new one and see if it improves it, I will keep you posted
  17. Thanks yeah should have mentioned that I have fitted a new steer damper and panhard bushes, I adjusted the swivel pin bearing but I removed all the shims without realising that I should have done a pull test, also adjusted the steering bos. There does seem a lot of play at the steer box as if the movement of the steer wheel needs to travel quite far before any response from the steer unit itself.
  18. Hi there now that i am keeping my Landy I thought I would try to improve it a litte, the power steer unit has stopped leaking (for the time being) but got my heart set on doing something about it. One reason being that the steering is lousy, I can get about a 10 degrees turn on the steer wheel before the wheels turn, the uj's are fine on the column and all seems pretty solid underneath. On the motorway I darent take her above 55 as any sort of corner is scary. It doesnt respond well and when it does you oversteer to get it back and so the see saw effect begins until you slow down. One question I would like to ask is will changing the steer unit improve the steering as a whole? ta
  19. It didn't sell, going to keep it a while longer, what do you think it's worth for at some point I will need to sell to purchase a campervan. BTW looks like the power steer unit has sprung a nice leak any advise on best place to purchase one pref recon? Cheers for your help
  20. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=77551 Thanks, so its the age holding it back i bought for £4K and thought at least I wouild eventually get my money back but did not buy to make a profit always wanted one. Yeah not G4 have tried to get rid of that off the listing....still not 100% sure about letting it go tho
  21. I got a real wobble on my 90 at around 35-40ish then it dissappeared. Changed the panhard bushes, steer damper and adjusted the swivel pins and this cured it however I darent take it above 55 now as the slightest bump in the road sends it all over the place.
  22. Hi selling my landy, for a campervan...i know. Good underneath no rust new rear x member, waxoiled, rear seat with belt, rear and front spots, new colour coded seats, cubby box, keypad immobiliser, mud dash with rocker switches and gauges, 200tdi transpland. Not over the moon about selling but got on ebay and uncomfortable with the response so far, also where best to advertise as i would rather this go to a genuine Landy enthusiast. Still time to change my mind yet but battling her indoors any advice appreciated I've had this for two years. ta
