  1. Continuing rebuild of 90 200 tdi and just fitting the new fuel tank, on trying to fit the fuel return pipe it is too long and hits the bottom of the tank - is there any problem with chopping 1/4 inch of the end?? Unfortunately I did not keep the old tank so cannot compare. Thanks
  2. another simple question please, can anyone tell me what these are called - the brake pipe clips that slide on cable ties. Cannot find them on ebay and need to complete the fitting of brakes to 90 rebuild. Thanks.
  3. Hi, can anyone please supply the part no for the blanking plugs that fit some defender callipers. I have not found these on my 110 200 tdi but on the 90 200 that I am currently rebuilding they are in the rear callipers which have the 46mm pistons and I'm pretty sure aren't the originals. I knackered the old ones when removing
  4. Thankyou for that, I am still hoping it doesn't need a full rebuild, if I can find out what is the possible cause of it coming out of 4th when engine braking
  5. sorry, didn't word this very well, should have said that it drops out of 4th on engine breaking when I change down from 5th. Hope to be able to fix this without a full stripdown of the LT 77 but would appreciate some advise
  6. I hope there is a simple answer but i doubt it, on the LT 77 on a 200 tdi 1994, it drops out of 4th on power braking. Hopefully, this is the detent spring and ball, which I can do but does it mean a stripdown of the box and if so which parts are likely to be the cause. Thanks
  7. What date were Defenders produced with standard wheels in white rather than limestone please ?
  8. Thanks, can relax now I know it's nothing too sinister !!
  9. Currently stripping my 90 200tdi in order to re-chassis and am intrigued by what this is - it was lurking under the front offside wing. Didn't find one when I rebuilt my 110. Am I being bugged!!!
  10. Thanks for that - quite reassuring, have just drained the tank and it was 1/3 full and RED so I will have to get it clear before road use - will it go after running for a while with standard diesel or do I need to clean pipes etc ?
  11. After rebuilding my 110 3 years ago I have just acquired a 90 200 tdi that has a rotten chassis. Have ordered Richards chassis and am about to remove engine, as it will be some time before this is fired up again and it has not been on the road for 7 years I would like some advice on how much of the old diesel I should remove and from which parts. I have had this running, somewhat carefully as I have no idea when the timing belt was changed. Any advice appreciated. When I rebuilt the 110 I had owned it for 22 years since new so knew the condition and the engine was only out for a short time. Thanks
  12. Thanks for your efforts, Ralph - I have been googling all variations for weeks prior to the original posting Looks like I'll have to fit hasps and padlocks !
  13. Thanks - the thread is for those with a plunger - these have a threaded end and a small bolt Am I looking at the correct diagram -"Rear End Door Latch Mechanism для LandRover Defender 1987-2006, Body & Chassis" - I still can't see "A"
  14. Thanks - sorry to be so thick but I can't see an "item A" The doors are front and the locks are not hte same as the rear end door on the 110 The one at the site above does not appear to have the barrel on the pivot as mine but above it as do all the others I have seen The doors are drilled for the barrel in this centre position
  15. Thanks Have posted on part nos forum
  16. Have had this posted on Defender Forum for a couple of weeks -259 views but no replies Total rebuild of 1991 110 200tdi onto Richards chassis going well - started on 50th pull ! Orig doors shot so got some s/h from unknown vehicle and have sprayed up OK. Problem is handles/locks -see attached - have no key and only one barrel. I was expecting these to be same as rear door -395037/FQJ103840 but they clearly are not as they have the barrel in the centre of the pivot .So they are not the earlier 337801. The part no. for handle and barrels would be greatly appreciated I have tried the existing one from the rear door but no go Are any members here able to identify the lock and barrels ? Thanks Attached Thumbnails

  19. The floor was quite rotted at the base of the bulkhead where they meet - I have had to replace large chunks of it so thats probably why! Thanks for that
  20. Another simple one - I am rebuilding 110 200 tdi 1991 onto Richards chassis and am just refitting the bulkhead. When I removed ti there was foam-like stuff filling the gaps at the bottom and around the steering column hole etc.- this was ruined as I scraped it off and cleaned up. What do I use to fill the gaps and where do I get it please?
  21. Rebuilding 1991 110 tdi hardtop and just ready to rebuild the seatbox after treating the rust. Problem is what mastic to use in the seams between the steel and aluminium as I rivet them back together.I am thinking of a silicon sealant eg bathroom as I think this will help reduce contact and subsequent electrolysis. Any tips ?
  22. To save me searching - Where do I get plastic pipe suitable for the diesel from the tank to the pump etc and what two sizes do I specify ? Currently rebuilding 1991 110 200 tdi Thanks
