Hi,
I think my a frame ball joint needs changing but am unsure.
When on motorways/dual carriageways when accelerating then backing off to change gear or just backing off the power, the car has a little unsteadyness to it.
Near enough all bushes have been replaced recently apart from the a frame, that untouched.
Can anyone tell me if i am guessing right or not???
thanks

ok, sounds like its the norm. Will stick it on for now but think i may drill and tap the second hole in just for an addtional feature.

Hi,
Received my set of qt guards today and the front guard only has one bolt linking it to the top mounting bracket, whereas the rear has two.
is this correct and how is that strong enough to take a hit???
thanks

thats what i think but want to confirm it as i have the boggo standard rock sliders on there but want something like what they appear. Like tree sliders but i dont like them with the tube on them, prefer it if it is extended box section as i think they are but want to confirm before i buy.
I have emailed them but no reply as yet.
cheers again

Hey all.
Does anyone have any experience with the John Craddock rock sliders??
These ones:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-ROCK-SLID...1QQcmdZViewItem
They look to me that they are extended ones that will stick out more than the usual rock sliders which run near enough flush with the body work. The ones pictured look like they are double the width, can anyone help me with this??
thanks in advance

Thanks, think i will give that a bash 2mo.

Dont want to have to cut it out at the mo as i dont have anything to replace it with the shut it again.
I did think about taking the pin out but you cant get to the srew head on the end of it when the bonnet is shut the end of the pin sits in a little housing and you cant get the end of it.
I have been hanging on the end of the lever that the cable pulls but it wont budge. Got minor play then just goes solid.
I just cant see a way of doing it. Tried the two 10mm bolts on the bottom of the bracket but that didn't help at all.
Anyone got any other ideas??
Really need to get to the clutch resevouir.
cheers

Hey,
I am now giving up on it, i have ahad this problem before but cant do it this time round.
Bonnet cabel snapped so i have had the grill out to open it by hand, no problem.
Now it wont budge. What ever i try i cant get it open and my Clutch Master cylinder is leaking so it just gets worse.
Can anyone offer some adive on how to get it open or off all together??
thanks

Hi guys, ordered a x-eng fan controller last Friday, 3pm. Arrived Saturday morning and is a work of art. Came with jubilee clips and good wiring instructions and was really well packed. Just wanted to communicate my good experience as service like this is rare these days.
Martin
I have had a few products from Simon now and i can never fault the service or the products, he always seems happy to help.
thanks

Hey all,
I have just finished fitting a new front axle and transfer box to my 90 and after all the problems along the way i have a big problem now its driving again.
Its a D90 and i have put in a Disco transfer but theres a real Clunk when you begin to reverse and changing gear if not really careful ith the releasing of the clutch.
I am not sure on what its name is but i shall try to descripe. Where the input shaft goes into the transfer box, it slides through a chunky metal sleave which has the input gear inside it which runs from the input shaft. Think its called input gear but anyway i think its nackered. When changing gear unless being very careful it really clunks in or if you go to reverse as you release the clutch it clunks as drive is passed through it, not a nice clunk either.
You cant see any movement at all underneath so it must be the box, i didn't have thsi problem with my old Transfer box.
Can anyone help me and tell em how to remove it so i can change it for my old one just so i can drive it again???? or should i look for another transfer box??
thanks in advance

Hi,
My winch has started playing up now, think its the solenoid and i dont think its any special make 'GEW10000-s' so not going to try and repair it. Was annoying as i was really stuck and it would have got me out fine but decided not to work this time.
So i am now looking for a new one before i go to Boxgrove on the 11th.
Anyone know how good these are or if its a waste of money??

Hi,
Went to a pay and play day today at Warninglid, West sussex and i have now decided i want new tyres.
The one i have came on the 90 when i bought it and were new so i left them on but today in the mud they were useless. They are 225/70/16's MT's not sure on make but they were no good, just fill with mud.
I have a 2inch lift but i wanted to ask peoples opinion on which tyre to go for and what size?
I want to get more diff clearance but dont know how big is best and what width tyre.
I am looking at the Insa turbo's as i have seen some today in action and they seem to work well and are cheap, but i want some which i shall put on spare wheels so i dont have to use them on road daily.
Any advice would be great.
many thanks

Hi,
I have a little problem with me clutch its 200tdi 90 and i noticed that the pedal felt bit soft and was going closer to the floor before doing anything and got worse as the day went on.
Got round to checking the fluid level and the pot on the master cylinder was near enough empty.
Now the pedal will travel half way down with no resistence but luckily enough the last half will just disengage the clutch. Theres no fluid leaking from the master cylinder so i am guessing at the slave leaking, can anyone confirm this by what i have said??
Wouldn't be the clutch itself would it???
thanks in advance

Nice one, cheers guys.

Hi,
I am about to fit my boost gauge onto my 200tdi but wanted to ask what boost pressure it shoudl read on full load??
I know its 0.7/0.8bar but where would this be measured from??
If the gauge is plumbed in the line between the turbo outlet and wastegate, what should it read from there??
Should it read 0.8bar of boost at the inlet manifold???
cheers
